Infact 6 JF17 Thunder aircraft were escorting, it's a mark of respect and good will gesture to our Chinese counterparts and symbol of the friendship
Serials 09-110, 09-112, 10-118, 10-121 and 11-134 the last one I cant recognise but it's from the Black Panthers Sqaudron

1. JF-17 Block 2 will have mid-air refueling capability and upgraded avionics.

Paf almost never uses live ammunition during non training or non hostile environment. It is adding drag and it can be simulated. Other nations use often fake versions. The three black roundels of usa or the blue labels on NATO side. It is not to rdeuce operational hours of weapons. And i doubt that escorts are armed. Interceptions are armed. Because these are armed and fueled planes to stop opponent if needed. That is the protocol. About the fueltanks... You have a dignitary that Has its own protocol so you need lots of spare time... Maybe 4 hours. Getting airborne. Flying to the border. Waiting. Getting back to Nur Khan base. Then flying to Peshawar. Would you do that on internal fuel only? Even f16 has most of the time two wingtanks... So judging range is fine but why so difficult if you know the range when you look at the cac/pac websites?
So talking about PAF, its protocol or speculation is not correct. These half baked comments are not true.

This PIC suggests that there were more Aircrafts on escort!!
Were they also JF17s or F16s???
