Years ago I was told that WS-13E would be used on JF-17. Apparently it was more than just a way to pressure Russians into selling RD-93. I can not dismiss WS-13 just like that. In the last few years, however, Pakistan-Russia ties have improved just as India-US ties have grown stronger. So, in my view it is more likely that RD-93MA is being used; but WS-13E can not be discounted just yet.
I really don't think Pakistan Russia ties have improved. Russia wants money and Pakistan doesn't have plenty of it. India would forever be more attractive to Russia than Pakistan.

Whatever improvements one might witness are very shallow. Russia, likely, uses it to insure India continue being its clientele. The RD-93 sale to Pakistan happened because of China ( both support and threat of replacement). India could have easily forced Russia to drop it.

just saw this, sorry for the late reply:

1. Pakistan-Russia have certainly improved. The impetus was due to three things - First, the Afghan end-game; second, India's increasing strategic tilt towards USA; third, Pakistan's own geo-political importance. This has been happening for many years & I am surprised that you differ on this.

2. India comes with its own set of issues besides strategic alignment with USA. You can not see Pakistan-Russia relations as a strictly zero-sum game. That puts Russia in a very poor light.

3. How could have India forced Russia to drop the RD-93 sale? I would really really like to know. This is actually reminiscent of all the hullabaloo from Indians before 2007 when JF-17 landed in Pakistan. PAF has acquired 120+ 4 gen fighter aircraft that bombed Indian army positions in Indian Held/Occupied Kashmir in Feb 2019. Was Indian leadership feeling magnanimous towards Pakistan when they allowed Pakistan to play with RD-93 powered war toy?

4. India continues to be a client of Russian hardware simply because of two reasons: First, it has a massive base of Russian/Soviet equipment. Second, it needs Russia to negotiate its position vis-a-vis USA. Do not let appearances fool you sir.

5. The proof is in the pudding - no matter how you look at it, Pakistan continues to add Russian hardware/subsystems & enjoy working with Russians diplomatically in the region. Have Russians ever humored India in regional politics over the last decade?

Where is the tail number. This tree line from Chengdu?

Why tailnumber? The so far known prototypes have a very thin red serial number on that green compsit-part under the canopy and is surely not visible in this low resolution.
