Re: JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

Huh, could this be the rumored YJ-85 that we've been hearing about?

to be honest im not really sure myself :D sometimes i get lost of all these different names for similar systems

lets wait and see what comes of it, but it would certainly be a milestone if JF17 can handle a land attack cruise missile, that would be just awesome and its not out of the question

if it can fire C802 then its not much to ask, having our own version of the stand-off Black Shaheen!!! Pakistan alreay test fired its own version, its called Ra'ad LACM

Re: JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

If a plane can carry AShMs, structurally, there is nothing stopping it from carrying ALCMs, especially if the ALCM is just a modified version of the AShM.

The software integration for the ALCM should be pretty straight forward as well, so if the PAF wants that capability, they will have it.

The only possible issue might be treaties, especially if the PAF wants to integrate ALCMs with ranges in excess of 300km. But there should be no issues if Pakistan were to integrate their own 300km+ cruise missile onto the JF17 themselves.

yj series are for anti-ship missiles. If you are asking about CM-802AKG, the closest equivalent in service with PLAAF is KD-88

Re: JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

so in total Pakistan has 8 + 29 JF17= 37 aircraft, 8 from the serial batch production (SBP) from Chengdu and 29 made at Kamra, we are going to make total of 42 JF17 Thunders at Kamra fulfulling our requirment for 50 Block I aircraft

so we are making another 13 aircraft (on top of 29 to make 42) plus the original 8 to give 50 aircraft, the 13 will be completed before this year finishes and we will start to manufacture Block II next year, the Block II will comprise of 100 units

Block II is finalised and its first flight is due in the coming months, in addition KARF (Kamra avionics and radar factory) are making JF17s KLJ-7 radar too

so to summerise, Pakistan has 2 squadrons operational No. 26 Squadron Black Spiders and No. 16 Squadron Black Panthers, with a 3rd due to take its first units very soon, within weeks, note this is first units not a entire sqaudron, full sqaudron will be stand up before the year is out

i remember there was a time when people said JF17 will never take off, today with the help of China, Pakistan is fielding a formidable frontline fighter, not only that they are making them too

Not at the moment because they are still learning the ropes (so there is the additional costs associated with having Chinese experts on site to help out and instruct the local production staff) and also because much of the components are still made and in China and shipped over.

However, as the local staff start to come up to speed and as more and more of the plane is made in Pakistan, it could well be that when production spins up to its full rate that Pakistani made JF17s would be cheaper than China made ones because of the economies of scale savings from the large production run. This will be especially true if Pakistan one day makes the WS13 engine as well.

I am curious, does CAC still even had a fully JF17 production line any more? Are there any more CAC built JF17s due to be delivered to the PAF? If there are no more CAC made JF17s due to be delivered to the PAF, with no PLAAF order pending, and with the sheer number of projects CAC is working on, I very much doubt they would want, or even could afford to keep a JF17 line open by idle.

only the 1st 8 aircraft were delivered from China that is it, all the rest were built by Pakistan

as far as I know China does not have a production line as such, but could quite easily make one if needed i guess

high ranking Chinese air force offical visit Kamra very routinely, when I was there in 11th January this year a bus full of Chinese officals was on tour of the Kamra facility, they shut not only the main road leading to the site but the entire area was in lock down, and no one at work that day was allowed to leave the site

there is very close co-operation between Pakistan and China on this project, Pakistan is set to make almost 100% of all JF17 parts in the coming years, we didnt just get a aircraft we got the entire production facility and the precision machines and tools that go with them, many people dont realise that in addition to training
