Makes you wonder why China isn't proactive in showcasing export items. They could've at least sent a J-10B or J-31 to the Paris Airshow.

Unlike with the West, arms manufacurers have relatively little political sway within the highest levels of Chinese government.

Beijing simply does not regard arms sales as anything like as high a priority as western and Russian governments.

If anything, Beijing often acts as a roadblock to Chinese arms sales as it keeps most of its best and most exciting products firmly off the export market for national security reasons.

I see your point, but judging from what we've seen at previous trade shows, there are multiple companies showcasing a vast array of equipment that are specifically geared for export. Granted, the J-10B and J-31 may not fall into such categories, but Norinco et al. could have at least made a greater effort to stand out at international defense expos.

From my understanding they are not approved for export. But then Pakistan is a different story.

If they indeed haven't been approved for export, then that is most likely be due to engine issues. The J-10B is no longer the pinnacle of Chinese aviation engineering as it was merely six years ago.

We have talked about this so many times. It's not about engines. The J-10B will be China's main fighters for a long time in a potential high/low combination. Of course, the J-10B will be the "low". They won't export it. let alone the political and security issues associated with exporting the J-10B, it's virtually impossible for CAC to keep up with the demand logistically when it has to manufacture the fighters for both the PLAAF and someone else. We all see how fast they are churning out the J-10B now. It suggests that the PLAAF wants it badly. And the PLAAF has the absolute priority. It is absolutely impossible for the PLAAF to put its entire modernization plan on hold so that the CAC could finish some export orders.

And it will be even less likely for them to export it when they solve the engine issue, as the plane will be more capable and there will be even higher motivation to keep the fighters to themsves.

That is a fair point; CAC won't likely produce these fighters quick enough to satisfy both international and Chinese demands.

However, I'm curious as to why you think a solution to the engine issue would impede its export prospects. Russia having a chokehold on the AL-31FN engines certainly doesn't help with export.

As mirage driver mentioned in his post earlier, Pakistan is a different story....

We have discussed this to the death, Pakistan is on the same league for China as Israel has for US.

This is the statement of fact......

If & when PAF requires they will get their babies (either J10B or J31s) & CAC/SAC knows how to accommodate PAF requests.

Now, please don't get into arguments as its purely up to you if want believe it or not.

Well, when you are countering people like Deino and Vesicles here on SD, with their longevity and their overall contributions, particularly Deino with all things aircraft..., I believe this above statement is probably more aptly applied to you my friend...and not to them.

Fact is...the burden of proof is on the thing that departs from current objective reality...and current objective reality is that the J-10B is for the Chinese, and the J-31 has no buyer.

When either of those changes...we will know it.

Until they do, they are what they are.

Exactly this what i am saying that whatever PAF or PN or PA needs from their Chinese counterparts will get them all depends on PAKs priority.

Chinese don't betrayed & PAK/CHINA have a proven friendship which has more than 5 decades of length the recent example 46 Billions $ investment.
