I have never seen JF-17 equipped with WS-13 i think JF-17 will use it's current Powerplant for the foreseeable future now that a new order for engines has been placed with Russia

I find most of you do not know the status of WS-13. Anyway, there is a post from the Chinese web site ****.cn, someone has gathered all official announcement about WS-13 and work out a detail development scheme.

First of all WELCOME here at SDF ... and thanks for that summary. But to admit - and here I have to agree with You - "most of us do not know the status of WS-13" ... but most of are quite Long-time followers of that scene and as such are following ist development or that tiny bit what is reported quite well.

As such the question might be allowed, why should we think that You know ist history better ???

Can You please explain ?

I saw this a while ago, but it doesn't really mean anything to me at this point, since we have not seen any pictures of WS-13 on JF-17. So until we see that, it's hard to say how much is true on this list.

Hi,

For the JF 17---it is the RD 93---tested---proven---extremely successful flight history---so where is the reason for a brand new WS 13----.

Here is the thing---with some of the setbacks that the JF 17 has had---paf should be looking at some stability that reflects on the product---and engine is the farthest on the list t be changed.

The mechanics are just about learning the intricacies of maintaining the RD 93---they are just beginning to understand the machine---they are just learning what parts need to be replaced when.

If one of the most successful aircraft of the united states the Phantom could fly all its life with a supposed "underpowered" engine as well as the Tomcat F 14----then there is no reason for the Jf 17 not to do so for a few years more.

Fighter aircraft engines are not iphones --- that you replace them every few months when the new model comes out.

Posters need to understand that you go to battle with a proven and tested systems---. With an ever changing foreign policy in the neighborhood---paf cannot afford a brand new power plant on its front line aircraft.

It is because the nozzle, the outer cast between WS-13 & rd-93 are almost the same. AVIC wants to keep the compatibility. You cannot verified them by the outlook.

For the official annoucements above mentioned, some are initial advertisements, talked about the related engineers success, enterprise prospects. Some are news from newspaper specified on the aviation sector, no public sales, no web version, no english version.

The list is based on the official announcements. So we are no need to suspect. You can check the originals wordings from the link I provided.

Yes. There is a thrust improved version of WS-13 and the project started on 2010.

You are right. Taishan is correct.
