Ok, we are happy to know that it's a real JF-17 simulator. You should know more than us anyway.

The news that China will buy some is not shocking either. It is a matter of logic that they are waiting for all Chinese parts... If you have the up part with J20, medium with J10a/b and J11/MKK then you can use a cheap yet interchangeable avionics (J10) fighterjet to make the numbers. The Chinese have huge numbers of planes that need to be replaced in this decade with something affordable. There is not much alternative...

your HO is not fully correct. No nation shares real data of their fighterjets. Not even if they are only users. And one should be called lunatic if one shares info with everyone. PAF mentality is not unique. Jut go to Area 51 and we will talk again.

Rumors will stop the moment we see actual Block 2 aircraft.

If you want to sell warplanes to foreign countries, you will need to disclose lot of information. For example, PAF knows almost everything about true capabilities of F-16s, Mirages or J-7s they have .

Those that are interested get the info. You just do not service the entire internet because you hope to sell a plane. And even decades old planes... You do not have the info unless you fly them. You see, secrecy is part of this buss. If you release the data you will have less customers cause everyone knows the data...

Some information has to be in public domain, so you could attract potential customers. For example, country X is interested in buying JF-17, they see general characteristics available to all, and then request further information. It still doesn't mean they would buy the plane and Pakistan has to prepared that some of the disclosed information would leak to internet or media .

In other news , Pakistan president is claiming that China will introduce JF-17 in its air force (or at least this site say so ) :

China To Induct JF-17 Thunder into Its Air Force: President Mamnoon Hussain

President Mamnoon Hussain has described his visit to China as successful. Pakistani President said that Chinese side has agreed to induct FC-1/JF-17 Thunder fighter jets into its Air Force. This will help in bringing the per unit price down and increase the chances of garbing export orders. He also added that China will continue to cooperate on the JF-17 project.

China has also agreed to extend its cooperation in fighter against terrorism and will supply Pakistan army with helicopters. China and Pakistan will also soon finalize contract to jointly develop and produce submarines for Pakistan Navy.

China will also install two 1100 MW nuclear power plants in Karachi and another three will be installed in other parts of the country.....

The probability that PLAAF will choose the JF-17 is about the same as that of Pakistan ordering more J-7PGs, especially with J-10/B.

The news that China will buy some is not shocking either.

Actually, it would be somewhat of a shock.

To my knowledge there has been no credible, authoritative announcement by China that it is buying JF-17s for the PLAAF or other PLA military use.

If you have a link to such an announcement, where the report is something more than either speculation or hearsay, please post it.

It would be an important development.

But I have seen no official announcement from the Pakistani government, and there is no direct quote in that article. Also, to date, no official announcement from China.

Until I see one of those two things...I will view it as hearsay,

Reports regarding PLAAF's induction of FC-1/JF-17 could possibly mean a few FC-1/JF-17 for DACT purposes. That would not be too far fetched, since inspiration for FC-1/JF-17 was F-16 - which is in service with many of China's neighbors. That would make pilot exchanges easier too between PAF & PLAAF.

But these reports can not be taken seriously at this stage. We would know when it happens. Until then its best not to speculate especially when we have nothing official from Chinese government.

It is important to note that post of President in Pakistan's Parliamentary system is as only a ceremonial head of state. Mr. Mamnoon Hussain is known more for his relations with Pakistan's Prime Minister than for any accomplishment, political or otherwise. He did get 4+ hours with Chinese president a few days ago during a state visit. But I would not take anything seriously at this point.

News/rumors travel faster then we can post on this forum... KSA seems to have used JF17 to get cheaper EF2000 deal. No idea how serious that is. But is is rather quiet.

I think we should not forget the simple logic about JF17/FC1 and PLAAF. If we see planes like J20/J31 as newer technology that needs a few years to develop... We have development of J11 derivative but that is still foreign design. We have seen medium tech development of J10B... (I do not see J10A as medium tech but as a maturity time to get J10B and eventually C with Chinese engine). We still miss a workhorse that replaces all those cheap J7's. I mean, Even China does need cheap numbers like any other nation. And as long as there is not fully Chinese parts in Fc1 (THE ENGINE!) we will have to wait to see formal decision. I know some think that the Chinese have tons of Flankers, J10's and soon J20's but I think they are not realistic.
