Let me reverse your question Blackstone...

If JF17 (version 1) was used then what exactly did it use? Is version 1 capable like other planes as Mirage 3/5 or F16? We do not have block 2 yet so... I think it is a very simple way to answer your question.

Asif-

It looks like Pakistani AF and Army Aviation units killed dozens of Islamist militants recently, were any JF-17s involved in the strike?

That is a good question . Pictures or videos of JF-17 in action would be better advertisement then any propaganda poster. If PAF uses this warplane in real strikes against TTP, employing smart munitions, potential customers would certainly take notice . So far JF-17 has been marketed as a replacement for fighters like Mig-21/J-7 in air-to -air role . But air combat is far less of a concern for many countries, and guerrilla/terrorist insurgencies are deadly reality . Therefore, seeing JF-17 in action against just that kind of adversaries would make very positive impression .

On the other hand, shaking out the Block I JF-17s in an actual combat mission can give valuable information feedback to improve Block IIs, to say nothing of positive street creds should the 1's performed well.

Well here's another confirmation of the nuclear delivery system

Only missile that can carry a nuclear head is the air launched Ra'ad weapon which means we can expect a JF-17 flying with this missile soon

Well, TBH, the article says nothing about any missile for nuclear delivery. It just says that JF-17 can carry nuclear weapons. We could be reading too much into the article here.

About earlier discussion - it is a bit too much to expect JF-17 to be making surgical strikes, when F-16 are equipped suitably and have proven their worth in such role.

JF-17 have demonstrated its abilities in exercises. But when it comes to surgical strikes with potential of civilian deaths, I would rather have it done by F-16.

Pakistan says JF-17 is a true 4th Generation multi-role fighter, at an affordable price, but wouldn't use them in combat missions when it had the chance. Not a good sales pitch for potential customers.

There will be more chances, I am afraid. We may see JF-17 in action before long.

None of what I said reflects on the actual capability of JF-17. Its just that PAF has far more experience with F-16 and its systems that have been integrated, tested, used over a much longer period of time.

But then, I do not claim any special knowledge of aircraft being used and thus could be completely off with my guess. There is another pertinent angle that I am not saying much about. Let us leave it at that.

I have done some fact checking and seems like the area of current operations is under command of PAF's Northern Air Command and they do not have any F-16s based at either Peshawar, Kamra, or Minawali, their main bases. JF-17 has flown combat sorties, but there is no official news about the current precision attacks being conducted by JF-17. Speculation about F-16 usage seems to be a matter of journalist's lack of knowledge and usual imprecision about military matters.

So, while Northern Air Command can request F-16 sorties, usage of JF-17 is more probable.

What I said about F-16 being a preferred option was my personal opinion. It could easily be wrong.

Hardly need any fact checking everyone knows where the JF-17 Sqaudrons are and also for that matter the F16 Sqaudrons

There's nothing new here
