Please dont spread miss information Block II will have datalink with ZDK-03

JF-17 Block II is not data linked to Erieye however PAF is working to establish a secure datalink via a third station based on the ground which will rely info from aircraft to AWACS, it first has to be translated and requires ground station to do the work before JF17 is "talking" with Erieye this is in the works and has been confirmed by Air Marshal

it is not misinformation but common sense. The first jft arrived with chinese datalinks, hence it could readily communicate with ZDK-03.

what makes you think chinese are incapable to integrate their own made AWACs with their own made aircraft ?? The issue is NOT comuniting ZDK, but addressing ZDK and erieye simultaneously, which is being solved and PAC/AWC via agound station info center.. Few of my contacts have also confirmed this.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MODERATOR INSTRUCTIONS <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Nabil and Asif, you are arguing about something (JF-17 Block II data linking with ZDK-03 and Erieye) that should be able to be easily verified one way or another.

Nabil, saying something is "common sense," does not mean that it has been done.

Asif, indicating that something "has been confirmed by Air Marshal," is not verified without a credible link to the source.

Either one or the other of you provide a link to a verified, credible authority...or stop arguing about it here on SD.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> END MODERATOR INSTRUCTIONS <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Thanks, guys.

Allowing a discussion to turn into an argument...and then for it to get heated, is easy to happen when neither side has verified their claim. But it can also detract from the thread, and is not good for the SD forum.

To get the thread back on track, here's more reporting on the Block II production. This from the Diplomat, December 27, 2013:

The Diplomat said:
Pakistan launched production of the Block-II JF-17 combat aircraft at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex near Islamabad.

The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex has already produced 50 Block-I JF-17s for the Pakistan air force. The newer Block-II variants possess more advanced weapons systems and avionics. The JF-17s are low-cost multirole single engine fighters jointly developed between Pakistan and China. China refers to the JF-17 as the FC-1 Xiaolong.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex last week for “briefings on the exports of the Pakistan Air Force’s aircraft, the JF-17 Thunder,” according to a report by The Tribune. The event was intended to inaugurate the beginning of the production of the Block-II JF-17s and was attended by Chinese delegates and the Pakistan air force. Sharif said the JF-17 project would “expand the friendship between China and Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s air force intends the JF-17 to replace its aging Dassault Mirage-III/5 and Chengdu F-7P aircraft. The first batch of JF-17s replaced the Nanchang A-5 Fantan attack aircraft, according to DefenseNews.

The JF-17s could be a commercial coup for China and Pakistan. There is a major cadre of countries interested in importing the aircraft, which is appealing given its low price and performance. A a long list of potential buyers including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Congo, Egypt, Indonesia (which has already signed an agreement with Pakistan), Iran, Nigeria, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

Air Marshal Sohail Gul Khan of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex has also reiterated the interest earlier this year: “We’ve been getting inquiries and expressions of interest for the JF-17 Thunder from many countries in the Middle East, Africa and from as far as South America.”

Regardless, Pakistan remains the only country to have formally purchased the JF-17 for use in its air force so far. The JF-17 has begun to enter Pakistan’s strategic community as an important asset. Usman Shabbir, an analyst of the Pakistan Military Consortium, described the value added by the Block-II JF-17s for Pakistan’s air defense capabilities. According to Shabbir, 50 JF-17s “are enough to form three squadrons with a typical squadron strength of 16 aircraft.” He adds, “From early 2014 the first Block-II will rollout. Block-II has no airframe changes other than the addition of an in-flight refuelling probe which would later also be refitted to all Block-I aircraft. Most of the improvements are in radar and avionics.”

On a second note to me this looks like a 500kg LS-6 glide bomb which also comes in 50,100 and 250kg weights

The weapons firing sequence is very short and starts around the 4min mark for those who want to see it themselves but don't want to watch through the whole vid.

Its interesting that that PL5 in that picture doesn't seem to have any front control fins. But if you look carefully, there were actually two PL5 shots, one without front control fins from a PAF jet, one with from the Chinese JF17 06 prototype. Not quite sure what is going on there.

The other noteworthy thing from that was that the PL12 launches strait off the rail and isn't drop launched like most other BVR AAMs, very interesting indeed.
