What's different, except the tip of the vertical tail plane? Might it be a version with additional electronics and antennae?
Engine intake position is different, nose is different and more angular.

The first JF-17 squadron was officially inducted into the PAF fighter fleet on 18 February 2010 with a strength of 14 fighters.[88][89] These aircraft first saw service in the anti-terrorist operation in South Waziristan, during which they were evaluated with weaponry of different types.[90] The aircraft then took part in the PAF's High Mark 2010 exercise from 29 April, where they were used by the Blue Force to attack Red Land surface targets with a variety of "highly accurate" air-to-surface weaponry.
This might be old but I wonder if anyone ever mentions about it. The JF-17 first saw action in anti-terrorist operation. Wonder how it performed.
Interesting that the Chinese never approached the French for the SNECMA Atar or its derivatives. After all, they did obtain a license for the Spery Engine from the British.
It would be interesting to see a JF-17 with an Atar engine
