oops, out of the minimal amount of info I was able to read, I concentrated on the main gun (was glad to see what I believe would be the long-barreled variant of Mk 45), overlooked "DE" in the propulsion part, so let me see ... the 12-cylinders variant of two well-known dieselsLooks as if MoD had decided on the winner of the 30DX project.
The date within the PDF states it was announced yesterday.
It looks as if it is going to be heavier than previously rumored and will have a gas turbine and diesel electric hybrid CODAG motor.
Looks like someone took some excellent pointers from the Comanche. Both aircraft have beautiful designs.
As written within the chart the engines will be configured in a CODAG configuration for economic run during normal patrol and rapid sprint when needed.oops, out of the minimal amount of info I was able to read, I concentrated on the main gun (was glad to see what I believe would be the long-barreled variant of Mk 45), overlooked "DE" in the propulsion part, so let me see ... the 12-cylinders variant of two well-known diesels
to produce electricity for unspecified electric motors, combined with one well-known MT30 turbine (up to 40 MW) in an unspecified configuration which would be either CODLAG or CODLOG depending if both, or just one of D, G engines can be used ... just thinking aloud
what do the say about the integrated mast, radar(s)?
Is this Mistubishi concept the one we are taking about?As written within the chart the engines will be configured in a CODAG configuration for economic run during normal patrol and rapid sprint when needed.
As for the radar suite it doesn't say much but the most interesting point is that they are going to integrate a compound optic sensor within the mast.
It also talks about mine laying mechanism and will have both USV and UUV loaded.
It does not mention how many VLS cells will be mounted but considering the cost it would probably be 16 cells without SM-2.
No this;
Tahnks.No this;
It doesn't give any specific date but according to the MoD document they are going to sign a contract for construction next fiscal year so at earliest April 2018, but more likely sometime after September 2018.Than
Tahnks.
The VLS forward almost looks like two separate sections.
One for AAW and the other for ASM/ASW?
Interesting...and also a good looking design.
When are these planned to first start building?

doesn't shown electric motors; do you know what I'm saying?

DE within the chart means Diesel Engine not Diesel Electric.the chart:
says "DE"
which obviously means diesel-electric; then there're two options:
your chart though:

LOL OK maybe I'm wrong (added later, I won't edit the part above so she'll get just CODAG and that's it?
thanks, also for the rest:
