They could have just said it wasnt going to happen, instead of letting people get their hopes up

But they did! Note that officially they are not saying anything. Only yesterday they were denying the existence of the project at all. How can they announce anything when they tell people J-20 doesn't even exist?

All the flight test things have been strictly speculation by pepole like us, not even experts. All the experts are expecting test flights within this year, not the next few days So if anything, we have ourselves to blame. It only mean we still cannot predict what the Chinese govn't will do. That's the only coming out of this.

China's J-20 is comparable in size to YF-23 Black Widow

Fighter jet comparison

China's J-20 stealth fighter is only 0.7 meter longer than the YF-23 Black Widow. No one disputes that the YF-23 was an air-superiority-fighter competitor to the F-22 Raptor. Why are some people claiming that the J-20 is more of a fighter-bomber, like the F-111, based on aircraft size?

According to my measurement the length of this plain is about 19 m, not 20m+ like other source said.

On the first step I measured the length of the vehicles on the photos in cm. According to the Wikipedia, the length of the J-10 is 15.5 m. Knowing this, I can conclude the length of the track, with is 5.72 m. With the length of the track we can calculate the length of the plane on the second picture and get 18.92 m result.

I was wondering, could the rudders be used as air-brakes by deflecting towards each other, similar to Su-35 solution of this problem. Those two big surfaces would create a very big force and quickly reduce speed on landing, reducing the need for shoot.

Oh yes, it certainly cleared any doubt that the article is full of crap. The only aircraft on that list that can be considered as advance is the Su-30MKI. The level of advance of the rest of the fighters on that list is no better than the latest iteration of J-7. None of the aircraft on that list is Indian's technology either, with perhaps the Tejas as an exception, but even that is disputable.

Nothing to see, moving on...

Most likely not, since the rudders are canted and would produce unwanted pitching moment.

There seems to be an unwarranted amount of country bashing breaking out and you all know better than that.

If anyone thinks that articles are being posted just to cause flame, then simply flag the mods and we will check it out and reach any decision required after appropriate consideration.

Thank you

hahahahaha i cant believe you actually quoted this as your proof. well lets see if we look at china's fighter inventory and use the same definitions as the dude who wrote the article, china would have about 880 4th generation equivalent fighters. sheesh man including jaguars amd mig-27 as 'advanced' fighters....

if you take only india's su-30, mig-29 and mirage into account, it only amounts to 242 fighters. if you take china's su-30, su-27, j-10 and j-11 into account, that amounts to 593 aircraft.

so please stop posting articles which are blatantly biased and misleading so as to avoid embarrassment
