I happen to be in China right now, and though I do not speak Chinese, I did see CCTV show photos of the J-20 a few minutes ago. It was quite a surprise.

Hmm this is strange. Newest photos indicate that the J-20 seems to carry taihang engines. Could it be that the two different prototypes use different engines?

!

The PLAN official mentioned the fact that China has caught up to the West in some areas of avionics and even surpassed some countries in other area which be hard to swallow for some people. He also talked about the new capability to be a mini AWACS and coordinate attacks with UAVs.

There's no doubt that F-22 is clearly superior in that regard than both the T-50 and J-20.

He probably got the information from the Chinese BBS.

Andrei Chang, the editor of Kanwa Defense Weekly in Hong Kong, said in a telephone interview on Wednesday that he had been authoritatively told that the jet will make its first test flight on Thursday, weather permitting.

He said Chinese officials appeared to have deliberately allowed word of the tests to become public, even to the point of bringing the jet to a Chengdu airfield, Factory 132 of the city’s aircraft design institute, that is commonly watched by military hobbyists, in a bid to display the nation’s growing military sophistication.

Hi im new here!

I congratulate china for their new next gen. fighter. All the pics look very good, but the video was kind of a turnoff for me. Did the engine(s) backfire?

I saw smoke plumes and heard a strange noise in the vid. Can anyone explain what exactley had happened?
