While it's no news we all would suppose the SAC's will be a tier 2 5th gen(F-35 equivalent), for some reason I have a feeling that SAC's "F-35" will be a much more successful project than its American counterpart...at least less politics, hassles, and irrelevant customers..

Actually the assumption is sac's 4th gen is a twin engined aircraft either heavy or medium heavy :-/

or some kid living in their parent's basement..

I don't care if he is a forty year old living in his grandma's basement cooking ramen everyday. IF he has some well to do friend during his college years who ended up doing something better with his life (like getting a job at the CAC) then he may know a lot more about the CAC than us.

Just let time be the judge here. Hu said something along the lines of the SAC heavy stealth fighter would come out at the end of 2011, right? We'll wait till that time and give an error of +/- one month. If the wall climbers at the SAC who are almost freezing to death don't see anything then we can conclude that he is just piecing bits and pieces from previous discussions on the internet and don't really have any insider info.

Except as great as Berkeley's science and engineering program is, I don't see any undergrad graduating in 2006 and making it up the ladder in CAC high enough in 5 years to know things. Graduate maybe, but not undergraduate. We can try to flex the years a bit, and assume he has older friends, of course.

The only exception is if he has a close relative working at CAC, and got a job close to projects through relations (which is always a possibility).

So in that case it would be also next January if it happens.

If siegecrossbow is correct, then this Hu must be refering to this rumoured aircraft called

which the name first appeared on early Feb this year.

But until picture is shown, it is still fabrications. If Hu's reputation is high then it is worth the wait.
I'm not as suspicious of a 5th generation equivalent to the Flanker as I am a VTOL aircraft. I simply don't see who China would need that capability.

wall climbers, freezing..lol.
i think we can give him half a year margin of error, as real projects never meet deadlines. as long as SAC produces something and we get to see it within 6 months of what he's said, we can assume he knows a little bit
