I don't know if anyone has posted this pic. All weapons bay doors open and no one around. Sorry I guess Deino posted a close up.

From our good friend Rick Fisher...

He posted this on his latest article on strategy center

Anyone know if it's Chinese as he claims?

As much as I dislike this guy I have to say that he got most of his facts right. Been doing quite a bit of surfing on the Chinese internet lately huh?

Hard!
Every now and then I go onto strategy center to see if he's posted another one of his articles, partly cause he gets some pretty interesting photos and tidbits from the chinese net, some that even we've missed (the hypersonic test vehicles, rail gun, supposed TVC nozzle, other aerospace research models). And also for the epic lulz (where he goes to recommend how the US should counter PLA "aggression," politics, and more than occasionaly extrapolating capabilities from just a few photos and quaking in his boots).

If he waited a day or so to post it, he couldl've added the GAIC/CAC HALE to the article :p

The TVC nozzles supposedly use composite materials. How the heck does that work? Wouldn't the temperature cause the composites to melt? Maybe this is some sort of joke done by Chinese netizens?

This does show that guys like Fisher hire Mandarin speakers to track down info. on Chinese military forums. Guess secrecy is important.

Maybe they mean composites like carbon composites (used in heat shields for spacecraft?), or maybe metallic alloys?
Pretty sure they don't mean composites like carbon fibre :p

His articles are usually pretty good, but I think he is a tad optimistic. I dont see hypersonic aircraft and LEO spaceplanes in China's near future.

There are a few factual errors, like he says that Tiangong 1 is 15 tons, it's not, its only 8.5.

I don't know about those nozzle photos either, how could we have missed photos like that?

Fisher bascially cuts and pastes from what he sees from the internet. Then spins them to scare the US government into more money for the military. That's all he does.

BTW, Hi, Rick!
