Russian Military Industrial News site says that Jane's Defence Weekly says that China has produced four J-20's... Not that it's news to me, as I have since long ago read that there were 6 or 7 J-20's... Just to show that now it's not only a Chinese rumor but a world rumor... :p

Honestly - at least IMO - these rumours about 4, 7, or even more than 10 J-20 prototypes flying secretly somewhere in Mongolia are simply fan-boys wet-dreams.

CAC has now two prototypes flying, that's a fact and no more .... but if more reliable reports are correct + a little bit of common sense, then it's quite realistic that there are already four prototypes, since 2003 should be build at the same "block" as 2002:

- 2000 = acting as a static testbed
- 2001 = first prototype
- 2002 = second one
- 2003 = third one

+ (here I'm still not sure if 2001 was simply reengined with flight-rated engines prior to the flights) at best a T50-KNS-like airframe for taxi-tests (this however is unlikely IMO).

Well, ifeng.com says that the Russians says that Jane's says that two are flying and two are not. So indeed this latest piece should be treated just as it is, a rumor. But as I felt it funny, a local fanboys' rumor has finally turned into a global professionals' rumor.

Rofl...so ifeng says that the Russians say that Janes says…wow, all-star classics!

The only logic I could manage to find here is that if 2 wrongs make it right then 3 wrongs must make it perfect.

So Deino, bow to the perfection! :p

I read that over another Chinese site and it also said the Russians say structural problems were discovered on the J-20. They made that many prototypes and it has structural problems? 2002 has flown once and now they discover a structural problem that they didn't discover in 2001?

ifeng, Russian military news reporting, and Janes are less reliable than Jon Stewart.

Let say thats true how do we know, lets say thats not true, how does the PLAAF show the world its not, by showing us the J-20 2002 flying, I really was rather tremendously suprised by how much Chengdu flew 2001, check some of my old posts, it wouldn't be the first aircraft with structural issues, and it won't be the last. Reportedly the T-50 also has issues with the rear center fuselage and vertical stabs, true? who would know? The F-35B has an aluminum bulkhead that is experiencing stress cracking, the aluminum replaced the Titanium to save weight. Soooooh, we all know the -------'s would never ever never ever tell a lie to make someone else look bad, now would they? Why noooooh.
