Re: J-20 Mighty Dragon weapon-bay delineations are visible!

if it wasn't for the tree we would probably make out the side weapons bay door. Alas! that is not to be since the starboard side is impossible to make any conclusive observation.

Re: F-22 Raptor's weapon bays are also straight

F-22 Raptor has straight longitudinal weapon-bay edges.

When a stealth fighter is approaching head-on, enemy radar waves will impact the front of the shaped-nose and not the underbelly. Also, while the straight longitudinal weapon-bay edges will reflect more radar energy, the entire and mostly flat underbelly of the fuselage and wings is a much larger source of radar reflection from ground-based radar. Finally, underbelly radar reflections are probably not that important because a low-flying supercruising stealth fighter will pass overhead quickly.

I think the plane may have jagged weapon-bay doors (it is just that we cannot see clearly from photos) or it may have them when it is finalized. It has jagged landing gear cover already, even though I assume it will open its weapon-bay doors more often near enemy than lowering landing gears in enemy territory.

Aquauant thinks the F-22 has "jagged weapon-bay doors." Anybody else agree with him? I can zoom in a lot more if someone else also thinks the F-22 has longitudinally (e.g. the long edge) jagged weapon-bay doors.

Actually, I'm going to sleep. I'll leave a clearer picture for those with doubts.

^ I think he was referring to the J-20 not the F-22...

And I expect the J-20 to have horizontal jagged edges for its ventral weapon bay doors like the F-22. the jagged pattern I expect will be very similar to that of the landing gear doors -- which if I remember correctly look exactly the same to each other (the same jagged pattern, the same "size" in zig zags)

J-20 Mighty Dragon literally flying overhead

[Note: Thank you to "Marchpole" and "Deino" for the picture.]

For those that are interested, if you compare carefully, you will notice that my version is a little sharper and clearer. The purpose is to bring out as much detail as possible to assist forum members in analysis.

From this angle, the J-20 nose shaping looks different from the F-22. May be just shadow effect or may be there is really some differences.

The F-22's nose is a diamond. The J-20's nose is either a pentagon or a hexagon.

After looking through again some pictures of the J-20, it's clear to me now the 2 aircrafts' nose cone shaping are indeed different. Previously, I suspected some differences, may be in the sizes, but didn't realize the other differences until now.

So, when will be the J-20 "third" flight?

Oops. My brain wasn't working; too tired. My bad.

I think, from the pictures, it seems more important to have jagged edge for the edge facing to and away from the incomming radar waves rather than parallel to it. So the F-22 has jagged front edge and to a lesser degree back edge and straight side edges for its weapon bays.

Also jagged side edges may just make opening and closing weapon bays more complicated than the extra benefits it brings, since the two edges has to seal together.
