All mainstream news outlets are propaganda mouthpieces for their respective countries.
That's definitely chipping paint of some sort. Ouch not a good sign.
Well, that's what prototypes are for, finding problems like that.

Those rumours are pure BS. How could the RAM be not waterproof. Afterall, one of the biggest thing in aircraft is water, water condensation, etc. So if F-22 RAM is not waterproof, after awhile of flying, the RAM would loose its capability and reveal the F-22 to enemy's radar.
Speaking of fifth generation fighters, I wonder if those similar projects from South Korea, India, and Japan are jokes or if they are real fully fledged projects.
The test in Janruary was the "public" flight test though... Before that they were taxiing the plane on the runway most likely to test the engines out, and they had two prototypes with the Al-31 equipped one most likely testing to see if it could fly and then the WS-1X one for the "public" test for a bit more national prestige/show off to the military/political leaders who had went to see.
Fair enough, but I think that opinion is a bit skewed. I mean the PLA hardly ever likes to show off what they have in development, but they knew it was going to get out eventually so may as well make the plane look good in its first test and try to spook a defense secretary or two.
(Assuming that test was the first) I don't think it can be called rushed -- the PAK FA flew for a similar amount of time with landing gear down for its maiden flight. But again I feel the need to emphasise the flight test we saw was probably not the first and was merely the unofficial "disclosure". There were probably numbers of taxiing and a test flight or two of both 2001 prototypes to make sure everything worked on the big day of the public "disclosure".
Any Chinese in this forum that's visiting China this summer? Maybe if you're going near Chengdu, please go visit and take some pics for us to see.
i'm going to chengdu, but i doubt i can or know how to get there
Not waterproof? What do you mean? Like when it rain it will wash off?!!
Agile enough to take on the F-22 I presume ^^
It's not that much bigger than the T-50.
Bit harsh -- the painted up T-50 looks quite good, and we don't know how good the build quality of the J-20 actually is with this paint scheme, at this far distance.
But those couple of pictures certainly make the plain look awesome.
Bltizo, just with you, a friendly discussion:
Linking other topics in this fourm, do you (or, don't you) have already sense that, people around here, are all HIGH RANKING OFFICERS FROM CMC THEMSELVES!!!
Why? Because they believe:"As long as a people as important like me - didn't see anything. That thing did not exist! For sure!"
I mean, sure, the AshBM program did not DELIVER a test report to them, it thus do not exist;
Just FREAKING 5 MONTH AGO, nobody DELIVER a signed report to them, the freaking J-20 is only a joke made up by fanboys at amateurs non-creditable Chinese fourms;
Sure, type 99 MBT can not conduct mission at desert, because I DIDN'T SEE IT! The only thing I heard is they use russian engine, russian gun, russian... what the hell - RUSSIAN TANK WITH A PLA STAR PAINT, ONLY!
...
Laughable, right? I (Red___Sword) laugh every time when saw these posts, and I laugh THE MOST at this J-20 thread.
Just a friendly sharing.
