I hope so. The finished product is vastly improved from before. I've read a couple of articles that mentioned the next generation of engineers and designers are taking over. I hope this means more original and new things to come.
I certainly hope that means more forward thinking than most of the "let's just stick with it" attitude...
The Z-10 was painted dark green. The the J-20 showed up and was pained dark green. Does this represent a shift?
Is this the new paint scheme for future new aircrafts? (as opposed to the old yellow primer)
I swear the Z-10 and J-20 are painted black, and not dark green? Though I suppose if you go dark enough for any colour they'll eventually hit black...
I don't think they are the "new" paint scheme -- it's just that the engineers are taking more pride in their work. And J-10 and JH-7 prototypes before have been specially painted as well.
I'm not sure if the "in service" paint scheme doubles as the primer for most military aircraft... If not then I'd assume the colour of all the aircraft from the production line would be in less attractive primer colours before they're sexed up.
I certainly think Z-10s/Z-19s with black colours are better than PLA Z-9s/Mi-18s green camo and the J-20 looks badass with it too, but I hope for a more subdued and professional and F-22 esque grey for it once it gets in service. But either is good so long as there's no black nose
