J-20... The New Generation Fighter II

lol yeah we kind of got used to the excitment. It it as if J-20 is just another plane now along the lines of J-10 and J-11.
But I hope they will make improvements on it, like how they made J-10b out of J-10.

I still think F-22 has better quality look, but it may just be because we havn't get a chance to study this bird close up, and the fact that she has stand-in engines for now.

So there is definitely still alot more to look forward to for this bird.

I'm personally impressed with the J-20's quality look. It's even better than the J-10B's finish, and even the stand in engines have serrations.

This thread is slow for the moment because tehre are no new pictures or info.

Guys, allow me, a Chinese citizen, to clear some cloud down here, before some wrongly interpret became some "Yeah, I know that..." some kind of 'common knowledge'.

First, CCP looks for EXTRME nationalism, but never "chest thumping" normal nationism. In order not to make our beloved mods nervious, put it simple: You write a fiction novel (over internet) that in WWIII China kick a*s, you DO NOT get throw into jail for charge of Nazism. Did people live in canada, norway, iceland, brazil... get "chest thumping" by the peaceful govt because they exaggerate their own nation's military power in some fiction? I guess not. Chinese govt and Chinese ppl are just as normal as yours, please don't predict stuff like the "experts" do. (Which you guys already know how off those "experts" are)

Second, the funny thing is, that pic is a direct snapshot from a Chinese military magzine 《兵工科技》's back cover. You can see the bar code and price label if you read Chinese. This magzine, like all the other military magzine in China, is licensed by respective authority (which do the "censors" job). I guess if Jane's defence weekly have a back cover showing the concept of F-35 dropping JDAM blow some warship, nobody would say "this is the evidence that USA is intend to go to war with Russia!"

Last, guys, you know better J-20 is an airsupiority fighter instead of a fighter-bomber. The author of this pic is just a "painter", a person who knows drawing but not necessary to be military fans. The eiditor calls him "we need a fancy J-20 pic for this issue's back cover." and you get your fancy back cover.

And here's the fun part in my own prediction: A painter, got the rough specs of the J-20, he need something else to make his pic "alive". so he baidu (google of China) some warships, get the aspects, and draw all the stuff in one pic. Be it a japanise destoryer or usa naval base, it's "job done" as long as it is not J-20 bombing PLAN 054A.

Guys, just treat China and Chinese as normal country and normal people.

@ Red Sword -- regarding the J-20 fighter/bomber thing... The J-20 will definitely be able to hold PGMs internally and act effectively as a strike aircraft as much as in air superiority, so the picture isn't necessarily unrealistic.

Anyone speak understands Russian? elChele @ AFM posted images of the Popular Mechanics Russian magazine. This issue has some stuff on the J-20 including some nice artwork. Can anyone provide a rough translation?

Dear popeye, I currently not live in China either, but everytime a person calls his own nation, or the people of his own nation, he uses "we" to address the subject, it's not a non-sense, right?


Regarding his comment whether it's "politically right", let's say people got boycott emotions sometimes.

I can not back up with my claim with too many technical prove (cause we all can't know the details), but allow me to make some common-sense:

A cargo plane like C-130 is big enough to load nuclear bomb inside the cargo hold, if you bold and skillful enough, you can even drop the N-bomb from the cargo door, to bomb the enemy beneath.

But you don't design C-130 to do such job right? You don't plan the battle plan to let this kind of job to be done in such a way, if you are the decision maker, right? - Although as you and me predict, such and such plane can hold such and such stuff.

If the most sophisticated / most expensive airsupiroity jet fighter has been asked by you (maybe made some necessary amendment of the plane) to do the dirtiest / most dangerious work of groud assult job (to "give a hand" to the ground assult), which you need to known this - ground assult plane can not do airsupiroity job to "return a faver" (anyone check the spelling?)

- you are at the wrong side. (means you should go serving the enemy, that's more direct.) - which I only try to make sense, not mocking anyone here.

Yeah I can tell you two read Chinese, and I can tell you two do not intentionlly implying anything that makes China "THE RED CHINA".

Thing is, people from other part of the world don't really paint China as blue in their map though, (computer games, blue is friendly, red is enemy, brown is waiting-to-be-saved-by-heros-third-parties) all kinds of funny (if not crap) things they read and watch everyday about China, is at least mis-leading.

Now no more furthur test the mods red-line, just please don't shock like find out that China and Chinese doing something "normally" RED CHINA would not suppose to do.

And popeye, sorry / pleased to be the good / bad news bearer (depending on how you judge it): This forum is kind of famous to Chinese military forums, so people actually silently watch your discussions. Some like your proffessioncy (compare to youtube's comments threads), some hate to discover even proffessional people like you guys are still THAT MUCH of alien to this nation. I know professional mods in this forum do not like off topic stuff, but do you really believe you can paint a picture without brush; eat steak without salt; discuss military thread without touching policital issue?

Sorry again to talk this much of off topic stuff, just let you know, Chinese enthusiast are also watch you guys, judging you guys (even wrongly interpret you guys like you did). Let's really make efforts to REDUCE mis-leading interprets.
