Makes me wonder if PLAAF will ever get a small batch of the Su-57 just to compare its kinematics and avionics with their own stuff.
Trials don't require it, given the current trajectory of bilateral relations (courtesy of kind US&EU support) - at some point, we may simply get to mutual trials and exchanges b/n two countries.

The question with su-57 is a simple one - does PLAAF/PLAN need a specific flanker replacement, or flanker fleet (with its rather special set of qualities) will be replaced entirely by different local solutions.
Not sure PLAAF really needs it, but then again - it always was the case, yet now PLAAF is the world's most prolific flanker operator.

I think there will only be exports of the Su-57 once the Su-57M comes out and production ramps up. And I doubt China would buy it before it gets the Izd. 30 engine. Once it gets the engine they might get it just for analysis and comparison with their own product.

At the rate things are going China might fly an upgraded version of the WS-15 before the izd 30 goes into production.

circumstances were different during SU-35 purchase.

SU-35 become the headache for PLAAF, how to integrate Russian plane in squadron. PLAAF also rapidly phasing out Russian engines due to logistics/cost problems.

and do you really think, China will purchase SU-57 to just compare avionics/electronics with J-20. China is miles ahead, i repeat miles ahead in avionics/electronics sector.

It depends on what we are talking about. Russia is behind China in basic technology because China has a much more advanced civilian sector which they can draw upon as a base for the electronics. But Russia has been working on their military systems for way longer. That is why Chinese pilots and designers were interested in the Su-35s automated target classification system, and the Su-57 if anything is even more advanced at that, it has hardware AI accelerators for speeding up target classification. Russia has also been working on fusion of multiple sensors for longer. Some of their aircraft have had tail mounted radar for a long time already. The Su-35 has the L-band radars in the wings. And the Su-57 only adds more to that with the side mounted radars.

Also the Su-57 is basically the most sophisticated fighter out there in terms of control surfaces, it probably has the most advanced fly by wire system in service at this time. The only Western fighter with TVC in service is the F-22 Raptor and even the Raptor only has 2D TVC. Plus the Raptor has way less sophisticated control surfaces, the Su-57 has all movable tails, and LEVCONs.
