It seems he got a talking to after that interview. Gotta wave those pom-poms higher.

I think it depends on the situation. When it’s time to ask for E-7 budget then the kill chain is something he worries about. But the point of this interview is to send out a message that the US is confident about deterring AR, so the opposite message must be sent.

But even here he didn’t say that the J-20 is a junk fighter, unlike another Super Power often does.

Nothing wrong with showing confidence as a commander. Question though, where did the 2027 deadline originate from? Western media always states 2025, 2027, 2035, 2047 seemingly at random.
There was the news report by Western media that said Xi has asked the PLA to have a plan to get it done in 2027 if necessary. Assume that is why the 2027 window is being mentioned left/right and center.

My favourite part of the interview was when he J-20'd all over the reporter.

In all seriousness, this is one of those articles whose quotation should have been accompanied by a supporting statement or some thoughts by the user posting it, given how thin and lacking in substance the quote itself is.

Not exactly a news report. More like an interview on CNN where it was the deputy director (?) of the CIA. It’s also not in 2027 but by 2027 if I remember it right.

This is the most interesting stuff IMO we can only speculate about:

Wilsbach also noted that there were lessons learned from China’s activities following US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s

to Taiwan. And while he wasn’t willing to go into details in an open setting, he noted “they showed us some cards. They showed some cards, maybe they didn’t intend to, but we picked up on it. And so we’re incorporating that into our future plans.”

He isn't the first or the only high-level Pentagon official making dubious comments or predictions on J-20 or J-20 program. Bob Gates preceded him. Hard to say his prediction will turn out better than Gates'.

Clearly there has been a coordinated propaganda campaign going on to boost Taiwan's confidence as well as psyops against China. Think about the recent Taiwan Policy Act passed by Senate Foreign Relationship Committee which focused heavily on military support to Taiwan, Biden's fourth "tongue-slip" yesterday on US coming to defend Taiwan against PLA, etc.
