Sorry if wrong place to post. Is UAV better suited for missile truck role than manned platform like J-20? For example, lack of cockpit could facilitate longer missile bay. In the future could we see drones carry better missile than the aircraft commanding it?

UAV and drones are still affected by weather, even the best of them, therefore communications are still limited. Manned aircraft can fly through clouds and bad weather to accomplish missions.

Sorry to break the conversation, but I have this thought in my head.
So, I've seen some people make ignorant jokes about how J-20 Chengdu's engine always break down mid-flight. I've tried searching about it, only to find articles about how J-20s are receiving WS-15 engines, with seemingly no reports of this supposed issue. Is the engine breaking down thing a hoax or something???

99% of Western and vassal/puppet media, including social media, is hoax.

It is a contest of systems, not of platforms. XvY is not a useful or relevant conceptualization because engagements do not happen in a vacuum. A missile can be fired by a 4th gen platform with guidance from a 5th gen, or vice versa. Naval and land-based support, both kinetic and electronic, will also factor in, as will the location and conditions of the particular battlespace. And many, many additional factors.

The short answer is no, any conflict cannot simply be reduced down to "number of VLO platforms."

Could be. PL-17 is already 7+ meters long, which is beyond the weapons bay length of the J-20, estimated at most 5 meters.

However, a larger weapons bay demands a larger carrying aircraft too, regardless of whether said aircraft is manned or unmanned.

Most mainland watchers estimate its around 5.6m-5.8m
