Not just the brown/tan but the shape looks really odd (maybe an optical illusion).

It's most likely the same?? honestly, but it is possible they adjusted the "flow volume" for the WS-10X? probably the different coatings. Honestly the J-20 appears to be a very stable design at this stage of development, the different engine will likely receive an alphabetic designator if I'm guessing??

There's a theory circulating in pdf about J-20 already using WS-15. I am not convinced but could someone be kind enough to explain how we know for certain the new engine seen on J-20 is actually a WS-10x and not some WS-15. Since we don't know what WS-15 looks like, how can we be 100% sure about this? Thanks for explaining.

Who the heck is PDF? Are you referring to Pakistan Defense Forum? If so, that forum shouldn't be taken so seriously. Pakdef.org is a more professional and reliable forum.

Seems like people are dismissing the WS10x powered J20A. Well, the word around is they could build up to 100 J20A. That's quite significant!

you're right, it is a very significant development, and having a Chinese engine is good all the way around, particularly if theres a significant increase in thrust, it may even super-cruise in the 1.1 range or better?? I would be hopeful, but here again, I'm completely speculative here?? I would say it might supercruise with the Russian F-117 as well??

Yes, he's referring to PDF and the individual in question should be quite obvious once you tour PDF's J-20 thread.

So how many J-20 LRIPs are there currently? We know that there are 6 definite LRIP birds in addition to the new 2021 prototype. But there have a couple of unmarked ones ... could they total over 15 as suggested by the yellow J-20 labelled "15"? Either away, it seems that the production is commencing quickly ...

PDF is fanboy heaven. It's prudent to regard everything you see there as false until proven otherwise.
