I thought the key feature of AESA radar is that you can use it while not being detected by the other side, because AESA's frequency can changes thousands of times in a seconds so no one knows where it came from.

I don't think LPI means guaranteed impossible to intercept, as they are still EM waves at the X-band bandwidth, (which shouldn't be around naturally or frequently) but I would love to be proved wrong.

uhh both sides will have AEW. Fighters generally dont want to turn on their radars unless they are going to fire their missiles to avoid wasting fuel and alerting enemy RWR.

I could be wrong, but based on the J-20 reports so far (qustion mark if the report is accurate) it is usually used without AEW. Normally it is J-20 vs. earlier generation jets+AEW.

puffinus basically just reiterated the 2017 POGO reports. IMO those are more from an alarmist's point of view.

Let's be honest, maybe the current batch of J-20 will become concurrency orphans later. Feature set is always a moving target because the development is always going on for such a big complex project. I can't think China can avoid all the issues US encountered. Time will tell.

Will the J-20 supercruise with the AL-31FN?? and IMHO thats a big if?? it will consume lots of fuel, now will it supercruise with WS-10?? depends on the thrust??? also NOT confirmed independently?? so in my opinion, Super cruise will not put up any meaningful numbers until WS-15,, the J-20 looks like it will have ample fuel capacity, and speed will increase as fuel is consumed and weight drops

Now I'm rather certain that when WS-15 comes aboard, it will likely Super Cruise, how fast?? 1.3 to 1.5?? nobody really knows...

one of the best things about the F-35's being close by,,, whatever comes out to scramble will get a fine tooth going over, LOL

so no doubt we will know a lot more about the SU-35 shortly,,, maybe even the J-20

With 1.3 your not going to have good feeling here seriously surely 1.5 minimum, Su-57 with new ? i have see mach 1.6 and F-22 1.75 - 1.8.
But as Su-57 again less good J-20 have a RCS largely inferior to F-22/35 in all reports confirmed it's more big " weakness " but a stealth fighter for strong point very good CR as a H-6 first no K, Tu-16

I hope President XI will allow them to enjoy their freedoms, and that freedom will trickle down into Chinese society at large...

There is actually just as much freedom in everyday Chinese society as there is freedom in US society, in fact I would argue there is more of that in China, because here in US the PC/twitter police will make your life miserable if you are not careful about what you say.

And yes, you can actually openly criticize the Chinese government, and yes, you can openly discuss politics open on the street. You ONLY get in trouble if you literally try to organize efforts to destabilize the society or join groups that wants to overthrown the government etc...

The impression of China have no freedom you are getting is from your own "free media" who will take every single chance to bash China to make themselves look better.

Don't believe me? Go take a trip to China, airfare is really cheap these days.
