It's not the first time I've seen this in such exaggerated illustrations, and therefore comes the natural question of whether it's commonplace or not.
Used to be, especially in the countryside. Still might be in some places. Sensibilities are changing though.

F35 2017 year production rate is 66. Next year, they will crank it out to 140 for 2018.
That will put alot of pressure on CAC, it's current yearly product rate of 20 looks very skinny. Gotta to crank them like hot cakes.
Ditch traditional production method and use current method "water flowing" where each worker only assembled a little and pass it to the next.

You mean, "pulse-line" assembly? Pretty sure CAC has that in mind for the J-20.
The remaining bottlenecks would be the WS-10X engine and its future WS-15.
Got to do better than 20 though.
We don't know if J20 reached the production rate of 20/year. From what we know, it is likely, it hasn't yet.

Still no "Winchester" for the J-20? lots and lots of rivets,,, those wing juncture features create quite a little vortex activity all by themselves, he's slow and full slat deployment to create additional lift for maneuvering!
