actually Low Rate Initial Production is a "descriptive term", the F-35 hasn't yet launched into "Standard Rate Production", so not so much a developmental milestone? as a statement about production rate...
We can always use the term higher rate LRP to describe both the J-20 and F-35 as far as production rate goes.

Of course we could Equation, and I really don't have any argument with Siege at all, EVER, but LRIP is Low Rate Initial Production. The J-20 is in no danger of having a massive production rate increase any time soon is it?? I mean, correct me if I'm missing something?? 4-8 aircraft per year, even 16 per year, is still industry wide, Low Rate??

I know that you no doubt remember that the F-22 was always a very low rate production aircraft as well, serious 5 Gen are very labor intensive, and hand labor intensive,, early F-22's were basically "hand fit",,, with J-20 production seeming to come in batches of 4 aircraft?? its very likely that there is a lot of hand's on fitting??

I do believe that several of those newer, larger buildings may very well be dedicated to building the J-20, and if that is the case, the production rate could increase significantly???

I have noted that the Chinese Flankers are much cleaner and more precisely fit than the Russian Flanker's,,, that's NOT a bad thing, and the J-20 is beautifully fit from what I am able to note,, remind you, that's just an impression looking at the exterior of the aircraft, but I don't believe that's all cosmetic, and I do believe the Chinese are very, very serious about producing a very high quality aircraft.

J-20 #2021, supposedly fitted with WS-10B engine, has transferred to Yanliang CFTE to conduct further test.

The artist must be from the South China. He/she has no idea Yanliang is one of the greenest areas with a lot of lakes and rivers. Far from the Loess Plateau
It's victoryzhou, the same person who posted all the recent J-20 cartoons, so presumably from Chengdu.
There are some reports that say the transfer to the CFTE was aborted!??
I think this is again probably a miscommunication, but maybe not. Here's the thread on
