not sure about the number, but the cost is not going to be that high.

To admit, that's indeed I wonder about ... in how such rumours appear?
Are there indeed a few true figures leaked about such a program's cost or are these - like so many other stuff too - only estimations, exaggerations and so on made by some forum-members and then after being reposted the xth time they became a fact?

That's my concern ... simply how reliable are these data and esp. since I'm not a Chinese an even more difficult issue?

For détails, J-20 is one or the mose secret acual armament programm and only very high officials are aware about it get datas etc... and you surprise me if you have much more than the files i have posted...

You don' t undestand, maybe laguage... he supports his assumptions by cross-checking, it explains, moreover, and he don' t say outlandish things
Surely he can 't have exact infos in more for the J-20 but he get logic sure...

war is always part propaganda the fact is secretive is because it also wants it hide weaknesses, all aircraft have weaknesses, even the vaunted Su-27, F-22 or what ever program, propaganda is aimed at lie to the enemy about the weaknesses a weapon system has, lie to the internal population and audience to make them feel they have the best weapons.

As war shows, once your enemy learns how to exploit his strengths and use your weaknesses in his favor, then you lose wars.

If you would pit the F-22 versus J-20 or any other aircraft unless the aircraft are totally obsolete you can have an easy victory, if the Chinese or Russians learn the weaknesses of F-22 they will beat it, same is if the Russians or Americans know the weaknesses of J-20.

But very likely J-20 is behind their peers because China still is trying to catch up, thus they keep it more secret

Can make sense after 20 yet for know... and in more it is expensive seems much or less J-10 ?

So about 2 years of production for equip a Rgt presumably no too big about 20 fighters maximum.
First 2018/19 ? saying operationnal for 2019 without problems..

I beleive it is plausible too...but that means they have to be ready for it.

with as many Prototypes as we have seen, there is no doubt in my mind that they have come to terms with the necessary needs for the manufacturing.

Whether they have done that and have indeed entered LRIP is the question.

We need to see more of the LRIP birds.

If they are truly ready for LRIP, then producing 13 aircraft per year is, IMHO, indeed plausible.

Sorry, but here You most likely got me wrong !!! It was never my intention to question Henry's reliability, credibility and even less his ability to find and cross-check original sources that I can only dream of. I admire this man and his reports even ... and now here comes my concern:

Esxactly what others said. ´The J-20 project is probably one of the most secret one currently running, so I can't think that even my relaible "big Shrimps" such information on cost and budget are leaked ... and even more if such details are posted, how reliable can they be ??

Given the fact the there is nearly all discussed in CHinese forums I think we have to judge such information if not stated officially with a huge rock of salt.

And in general they don't know much more as we in Western, i think opacity for all...

Indeed among the best watchers i see a majority of Western people, Europeans even.
