It's kind of Funny, at this initial production stage, J20 still doing high attitude testing.
That should be done during design and experimental stage.

If they found high attitude issue , is that means the program going to dial back and the production would be stopped.

It makes No Sense At All for what they doing.

To us observers but not to CAC and the PLAAF. Who knows what equipment or avionics they are testing on the J-20.

Let's not forget the message it sends to India. I have been reading how India is deploying fighter aircraft to the border to counter China. If China didn't have a J-20 there, I can see the spin to claim it can't operate in high altitudes. If RAM paint were that significant of a difference in stealth why not paint all aircraft with a RAM coating? You don't need to spend the money on developing stealth shaping.

Yeah and how many stealth fighters has Europe tested so far out in high altitude? I thought so.:rolleyes:o_O Remember China has the most powerful "installations" for wind tunnel testing and super computer. Perhaps the high Tibetan plateau (tallest in the world) is just another way China to test the durability, ruggedness, and ALL of the components to go with it.
T-50 is one European yes  LOL

I seriously doubt that it was meant to send a message (of any meaningful way) to India despite the fact that the Indian media was trying to play it up as such. We don't know how many LRIP J-20s there are and even if we did, I don't think they've achieved initial combat/operational capabilities just yet.

I don't think they are testing the actual plane. No matter how high altitude Tibet is, it's no match to the kind of altitude that even normal commercial planes operate. They fly in the air! That's high altitude. No high plateau can match the harsh environment any plane would face while in the air.

So it makes no sense for a fighter jet to go to Tibet for "high altitude" test. This is not a tank or a vehicle.

What if this is for the ground / maintenance crew? How about equipment storage? To see ground equipment still functions at high altitude? Whether normal maintenance can still be done effectively at high altitude?

My understanding is that they had been discussing which continent has developed its own stealth fighters. F-35 is definitely not European. T-50, on the other hand, is.

Made in Italy Bub, that's European, and don't forget our partners have been with this project from the beginning, so yes indeed, much of the JSF will be made in Europe, Israel, and elsewhere around the globe. Its a Western airplane, just as the Flanker is a communist block aircraft, now the J-20 is an all Chinese aircraft, but JSF is def a partnership, and I really want to give credit where credit is due, and make NO mistake, this is an outstanding option for all our partners, wish we had more F-22s, but the F-35 is def the #2 bird, #1 in many areas!
