Yeah I sort of got that idea from other pics of the same shot posted afterwards that looked more like it was a cut and paste job.

Lenses can affect colour saturation, brightness, etc. which depending on the material can end up showing different shades and even hues.

It does, but to which extent, especially when we're talking about reasonably good lenses and camera for which color distortion is expected to be minimal? It seems like some of us believe it does go to that extent, and some of us, including me, don't. So let it be.

And also, the "spider" at the tail fin, and the "diamond" below the nose cone have too much distortion, and they looks to be painted in.

Not saying that the lens IS the reason. Just pointing out that there are a lot of reasons why 2012 doesn't always look silvery. Just like how 2011 could look silvery in some pics and green in others.

It's a given 2012/2011 don't always look silvery in all the pictures, but still, to me, the tone of color of the J-20 (in the second picture) at the daylight condition, sunlight angle, exposure level is an anomaly.
