What is the advantage of using a very low observable aircraft to launch an ASAT missile? These missiles can often be launched anywhere above a large country outside the range of enemy fighter aircraft.

Not entirely true Delft.. some geo sync sats are far away and the launching platform may not be anywhere near a host country's territory. Also I 'm not implying that J-20 is the go to platform for ASAT while others isn't.. all I'm merely saying is that they may fit J-20 to carry out ASAT mission is all... and LO aircraft do come in handy on the return trip because after launch the fighter may need to fight his way out in A to A scenarios.

The advantage of fighter-launched ASAT is that compared to a ballistic missile ASAT the fighter-launched ASAT is far cheaper to launch, as it has an expensive platform that can reduce its escape velocity. Pairing it with stealth, as mentioned above, allows you to attack satellites further away from your basing.

Counter-stealth AWACS and AWACS-killer missiles can be easily defined. Counter-stealth AWACS are AWACS that have detection and tracking ranges against stealth aircraft, that when networked, can allow its own stealth escorts to defeat enemy stealth fighters in BVR. So let's say, 200-300km detection range against targets that are between 0.001 and 0.0001 m^2 RCS in the X-band. AWACS-killer missiles are extended range missiles designed for the interceptor role that are intended to allow interceptors or fighters operating as interceptors to snipe off tankers and other high-RCS support aircraft from ranges longer than typical fighter aircraft engagements.

Anyone else flipped their head over when looking at this image?

Maybe chengdu is only doing the very basic testing of each prototypes and changes to make sure they fly as intended, and more complex testing will be done at Y. So maybe we won't see actual EOTS on present and future J-20 prototypes at Chengdu.

Can a fighter launch an ASAT against a geo sync satellite? I would expect you need a larger missile and need perhaps a H-6 if you want to use an aircraft as a first stage.

Didn't the US did it before in the 80's with F-15?

It's probably more trouble and hassle than just shooting it down with a ground based launch. And actually it is also not much cheaper.

Guys...here ya go on that pic. It was flipped and mirrored, to keep the number right.

Now the sun/shadow are where they need to be.

it sounds like No. 2011 was sent to CFTE on the 17th to start testing.
