You know, if it were a PS, then I'd expect them to have made the undernose IRST jewel the same yellow colour as we've only seen previously.

Making it grey like in this picture would run counter with trying to maintain a facade of authenticity.

That isn't to say I think this picture is real. Maybe the PSer was simply bad and/or lazy.

I had a similar feeling, since this "orange-golden" colour depends heavily on the lighting conditions ... when I first saw that psed '2002' image the EOTS-dome with its too-much-orange, this was one of the the main reason for me to identify it as a fake.

So ... I will wait again, wait, wait ...

EDIT / PS: Any info in the Chinese rumour mill or Chinese forums regarding this image ???

this time, it's a real thing. Look at trees on the left and the yellow grass. It's still winter, but it is said that Chengdu's having a very warm winter. It's not surprising to see the flowers. Also, those scratches on vertical wings match previous pictures.

Besides, if I were the PSer, I would definitely keep the golden color of the EOTS seen in previous pictures in order to make it like real.

Many people on CJDBY think that this is a P.S. photo, but they love it anyway since it is "well shot".

Grass is still yellow though.
Is it?

With any decent graphics program like Photo Shop, you could easily select the grass itself and do color/contrast/illumination/mid-tones/hue/, etc. changes to that area to change the color of the grass so that what once was green, for example, would appear yellow...or even brown.

I personally believe the blossoms themselves, and the very sharp edges of the top of the intake, without any shimmer when compared to the other edges, give this away. At least IMHO.

But, as Deino said, all we can do is wait and see. At some point they will roll this aircraft out and video tape/photo it as it goes through its preflight...and then as it takes to the air for the first time.

I believe that someone took an existing picture of one of the other J-20s and then did a relative good job of changing the color of the lower portion of the photo a little to make it look more like winter, then pasted in and touched up the intake area.

The best PS is one where they only change the areas they need to change and leave the vast majority of the picture untouched, as an actual photo.

In this case, they would have benefited by softening the edges of the intake area and approximating some shimmer or blur around that area to match the rest of the photo...or by taking some of the actual winter time grass from another photo of this aircraft and blending it into the lower area.

It's really interesting to note how the PLAN aircraft watcher community gives accolades to people who get very "close," with their PS jobs. Sort of like a runner up to the real thing! LOL!

I'd say PS as the nose gear also appears a little wonky, my overall impression was not the real deal, although even a real photo with high magnification can appear a little wonky as the quality is degraded????

To me the 'wonky' wheel adds to the authenticity. The bird is probably in mid-turn while taxiing when the photo was taken which is why you see the front gear turned like that. If I'm a PSer the last thing I want to do is to purposely make the wheel look like that and like some have said I would have added some color (greenish/orange hue) to the EOTS.

From my experience a 'bad' picture can also mean it's real as oppose to just a bad artist. LOL
