It was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence, its one of America's Best fighter jet.

The J-20 is a fifth generation stealth, twin-engine fighter aircraft prototype developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force.[ In late 2010, the J-20 underwent high speed taxiing tests. The J-20 made its first flight on 11 January 2011.] General He Weirong, Deputy Commander of the People's Liberation Army Air Force said in November 2009 that he expected the J-20 to be operational in 2017–2019. The J-20 is newly developed in China and have similar techlology to the F-22 and the T-50

So, which fighter in the near future will rule the skies?

Actually I think it's,

2001: flying
2001: flying (but repainted as 2004)
2002: flying
2002: either under construction or flying (due to be repainted, possibly 2005)
2003: static
2006: under construction, flight prototype

Hi guys ... not realy back from France and even if I have right now only limited tccess zo the www - and as such don't understand all these latest happenings behind that mysterious 2004 - I might ask what's the evidence to think that there are more than one 2001 and 2002 which are now repainted ??

Isn't it much more likely that there is in fact only one 2001 and 2002 each with 2003 acting as the static test airframe and now a third prototype 2004 ? ... Agreed that leaves the question, how it was transferred to Yanliang but I think this is more easily manageble than this strange renumbering theory !

Anyway ... Keep all the latest info for me until I'm back on Sunday.

I tend to agree. One wouldn't want to confuse things with confusing naming systems as if building a stealth aircraft is not complicated enough.

well slapping extra wing surface like that really bring a big change to flight laws and aerodynamics behavior

i still believe J-20 is not meant to be a carrier borne fighter, this CG along with SAC rumor is hard to make sense for me

The 2004 photo is not a new photo. I think the picture appeared before in 2012 (Google j20 2004 and see.). So, nothing have changed in the wait for the prototype.
