Re: PLAN's first Carrier Strike Fighter the J-15 Flying shark

Now Brat.. we know that the Tomcat..if were still operational would be the Cats Meow...But alas it is not.. they've been out of service for 8 years..

Aye Cap'n Bly, and Mr. HEAD, I most speeeecifically noted the Su-33 was a Roooooosian Aircraft, and contrasted that Sir with the Chinese Shenyang J-15, which I also noted is a gen 4.5, which I classified as the current "cats meow" among carrier aircraft in the field of Naval Aviation, Sir!

I am rather certain that there have been no more Su-33s for some time, the Roooooosians having opted to fly the Mig-29K, also a fine carrier aircraft, but slightly less sweet than the J-15, IMHO.

Eight long sad years, and the Navy opted out of the the ATF, which would have no doubt extended production of the F-22 had they bought a two set Naval Raptor. back to the J-15, I know it would never happen, but I would love to see Naval Air have 200 J-15s flying Top Cap. Somebody CG me a few J-15s flying the Jolly Roger, off the Ford???? Please?????

Re: PLAN's first Carrier Strike Fighter the J-15 Flying shark

SU-33 is the Russian aircraft, AB...not the Chinese. Kroko is correct in stating that there has been very little upgrade to it.

The PLAN J-15 is another matter entirely. It is much more related to the J-11B, which we all know as been significantly upgraded.

Just wanted to clairify that. Kroko is certainly not a snob, and I do not belive that he is speaking down to the Chinese at all.

Welcome to the forum, and have a very fun, interesting, and productive time here.

OBTW, Es giebt vielen hier die an Gott glauben.

No need to antagonize people of faith...we try and leave religion out of things to avoid bad feelings.

Oh, I never heard this before.
What I know is the J-15 have joined army 5 years ago.
As a denouement, I am wondering the message you and White House get is real or not.
I can tell you my dad's high-school classmate is a captain of chinese submarine.
Thus, I know many truths. But, you know
I will not tell Westerners.

you don't need to tell us top secret info ... but please don't tell us that you know ... because we know that you don't know

Talk is cheap ... and telling us that you know something that you don't ... is much worse than "cheap"

Oh, I never heard this before.
That is good. It means you have learned something.

The SU-33 is a Russian naval aircraft that they use on their Kuznetsov aicraft carrier. It is one of the basis for the J-15, but the J-15 is newer, and based also on the Chinese J-11B, which has many improvements structurally, electronically, and with avionics.

Actually, its first flight was in 2009. This is different from it "joining" the military, which in this case is not the Army, but the Navy, the PLAN. In November 2012, about two years ago, it made its first landing on the Chinese carrier, the Liaoning.

It takes many years for a new aicraft to go from first flight, through all of its testing to inital operational capability (which is known as IOC), to full operation. The J-15 is still testing, and the first eight or nine production aircraft have now been built and joined the six or seven prototype aircraft being used for test (you can tell these because of the more yellow color, where the production sircraft are painted in standard PLAN colors).

So, the J-15 has not really joined the PLAN yet, because they are still testing it. But I expect in the next 12-18 months we may see it become IOC.

This is not unusual. The new US F-35 stealth fighter has had over 100 production aircraft already built, and it will achieve its IOC with the US Marines in 2015.

LOL! Well, I cannot tell you about the White House. I can freely tell you that I do not agree with, and seriously dislike and disagree with many of the things the "White House" is doing these days. As a very loyal, and constitutionsl American, I would much more like to see a Ronald Reagan in there. But I am an old war horse now with nine grandkids...so my feelings are not too surprising.

I can tell you however, that the information about these aircraft I am telling you is absolutely correct. Study it yourself.

Even that is too much specific information to divulge perhaps.

Agonizing Bliss said:

Perhaps you do. I have no doubt.

But consider this...what you thought you "knew" about the SU-33 was not the truth. It was incorrect.

You should seek to protect you nation AB, I commend you for that desire. I do the same for my country.

But also use wisdom...and wisdom comes with age.

Jeff, I really envy you for spending (or wasting) your precious time for this little unexperienced kid

I too appreciate Jeff and bd's kind and patient approach to all of us, but don't forget AT, that not so long ago, we too- were snott nosed brats of 17, and kinda figured we had the world by the tail, and the old fogeys had one foot in the grave and were out of touch with the real world. The older I get, the less I know for certain, so it seems....
