Jeff, I really envy you for spending (or wasting) your precious time for this little unexperienced kid
No worries...and certainly not waisted.

What does not take root, will be as a seed that is planted...springing up later, perhaps as time passes.

I will always seek to share with those who are young, and who have an open mind...or who even might have one.

Bravo Zulu.

Re: PLAN's first Carrier Strike Fighter the J-15 Flying shark

Now Brat.. we know that the Tomcat..if were still operational would be the Cats Meow...But alas it is not.. they've been out of service for 8 years..

Yes, the TomKat had an awesome radar and carried the Phoenix, which was capable of engaging an adversary at 100 miles and tracking up to six targets at once. The J-15 is a very similar aircraft, in many ways a follow on to the Kat, large for a fighter, but with lots of capability, twin engine, should have awesome avionics and probably an outstanding FCS as well, likely able to track the glideslope and possibly with an auto-land mode????? It certainly has made the initial Chinese carrier ops appear to be "no sweat". An F-15 or looking back a Tomcat would have a real challenge going head to head with a J-15 in BVR, and that would be something to watch...this would be a situation were tactical awareness and the ability to fight your aircraft would likely determine the outcome of an engagement... no doubt the J-15 has been designed to win... brat

Thanks for your information.
But I really feel too proud to introduce meself.
I cannot seize this because of unacceptable glory.

There is definitely some lost in translation on AB's reply there. I think I know what he is trying to say here lol... Just reads weird and some may even be offended.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think what you're really saying is that you cannot take credit because the info you gave are from others.

Or maybe what he meant was:

"But I really feel too proud to introduce myself." is actually "But I would seem to be too proud to start introducing myself."

"I cannot seize this because of unacceptable glory" is actually "I won't introduce myself in this way because I would seem to be too proud." ;)

Best aircraft for Liaoning is J-15, why? Because China has extensive Flanker experience
Agreed.

The J-15, because it is based on the J-11B, is an indigenous fighter, that is compatible with Chinese armaments, and does not rely on a foreign nation.

IMHO, it is a significant improvement for the PLAN over any possible deal that could possibly have been made for the SU-33, or the Mig-29K from Russia.

Longer range, more carrying capability, proven design, and completely home grown, including weapons. Yes, less aircraft on the Liaoning, but the PLAN, IMHO, is looking forward to larger carriers in the future, perhaps after an improved, indigenous Liaoning design, where that will not be an issue.

Agreed more. PLA had the choice of basing its naval jet off J-10 or J-11, but it chose J-11 due to the greater range and multirole possibilities down the road.

Would be interesting to see which aircraft PLAN picks for its second generation. I don't think it's set in stone that Project 310 will be picked at this point.
