J-15 carrier fighter thread

Guess Wikipedia needs to be updated. It is saying that the WS-10 engines are gradually being introduced into the J-15 series. Considering the added reliability question that arises in naval aircraft engines, I thought it was a little odd. As usual, sources were not mentioned but it seems to be just thrown in there that WS-10 ( Naval) is the main thrust producer with 132 KN of thrust. Any chinese sources on the same would be of help for updating the page.

On the anniversary of PLAN,CCTV run a series on Chinese navy This section is about training of carrier pilot
There have been long-term debates on whether China needs to develop aircraft carriers to achieve deterrence. Also up for debate is the number of carriers. The PLA Navy has made a fundamental shift from primarily coastal defense. The carrier battle group concept is one new direction.

That has been evident ever since the Chinese government decided to increase the amount of marines they have.
You don't need marines for defensive operations.

You can see this in their whole naval doctrine. The amount of expeditionary naval vessels keeps increasing while smaller vessels production in some cases has even seemingly been stopped. Like the missile catamarans or, allegedly, the Type 056.

The fact is you keep hearing about how the US can choke China's economy by closing ship traffic in the Malacca Strait, etc. The only way for China to prevent this is to have some sort of expeditionary forces themselves. To have a deterrent. This basically means China needs to be able to conduct operations all the way to the Middle East.

The US can choke china with the malacca strait ? Wouldn't that end up being the choking of the entirety of South Asia ? I'm very sure a couple of Ballistic missiles aimed at malacca strait or chinese SSN in south china sea can complicate the endeavor. Russia is not lacking in oil production either. An Iran pakistan china oil pipeline isn't inconceivable.
The J-15 and the marines might be primarily for the South China sea, East China sea and to a lesser extend Taiwan.

It would be just like any other blockade. You would inspect ships and those headed to China wouldn't be allowed to pass or at least certain contents could be forbidden from transit.
I think the use of a carrier in the Taiwan scenario is kind of limited. You would likely be better off with more air refueling capacity I think.
So while the surface fleet would be really important as an escort to the marine landing operations I think the aircraft carrier's use would be a lot more limited.
