Algeria is claimed to have ordered the Su-57 a long time ago. So I kind of doubt it. Nigeria would be way more likely.

Algeria is claimed to have almost every Russian type including Su-34, Su-57 and more since years and NOTHING happened!

I think Algeria is indeed not unlikely especially since Russia as it seems cannot deliver what they want, but from my gut-feeling, the Algerian AF is looking for a twin-engined type.

But wasn't the Algerian MoD just visiting the 72nd AB? (not that this any meaning)

Interesting, actually Yankee & Shilao in the latest podcast mentioned the 1st J-10 operator in Africa likely will be a small country no one expect.

What about the alleged deal to Sudan' Any news?

There are rumors that Algeria is interested in buying
Preparation of J-10C aircraft to replace 32 MIG-29A aircraft
It is also interested in obtaining 28 J20 aircraft
The Russians are clear that their primary interest is meeting the needs of the Russian army, and if the Russians reach the production of 120 fighters annually, they will pump them to the Russian Air Force.

Also, the Russians’ failure to provide AESA radar to the MIG-29/35 fighters with advanced capabilities led to countries turning to purchasing alternative fighters such as the J-10C.
Algeria is heading to buy a large package of Chinese weapons in the coming period, whether land, sea or air weapons. From the West, buying weapons from it has become after it announced that it is with Israel against the Arab countries. Dealing with it has become a type of crime.

Algeria got its independence from France in no small thanks to massive Soviet weapons and training aid. That is why they still buy weapons from Russia.

Algeria got the Su-30MKA not that long ago. So they won't be in a rush to get the Su-57.

As for why the Su-34 deal did not happen. Russia had to replace lots of components from the Flankers that they used to import from Ukraine after 2014 coup. Only recently did the modified Su-34M with Ukrainian sourced components removed enter production.
Among other things the Russians used to source the HUD for the Flankers from Ukraine. This was replaced with a brand new Russian HUD which is a lot more capable. For example it can do overlays of raster information on top of the vector symbols display (where before you could only display line based graphics now you can mix this with map and target pictures for example) and has much larger area.

As for 'lack of production' the Su-34M and Su-30SM2 lines are running at only a fraction of their capacity. So the Russians could be pumping out a lot more aircraft if they wanted to. The MiG-35 line has also been sitting there waiting for orders for years.

I do not think it is impossible for Algeria to buy the J-10 since they already bought some Chinese made ships after Russia took too much time to deliver to them the Project 20380 derived corvettes of the Tigr class. And they ended up not getting the MiG-29M. So they need an aircraft in that payload class. I am just not sure it is worth doing that upgrade right now when 5th generation stealth aircraft will soon become available to them in the market.

They only just about bought mig-29m, last planes arrived less than a year before (i.e. already during the war).
Since it was procured long after the Su-30MKA, I assume PD radar wasn't an issue, and was bought simply as a fighter-bomber(29m is more or less comparable to blk.52+)

J-10, especially with AL-31 series, could've been an excellent addition to Su-30mka before that delivery(frankly speaking - probably a better one), but now - I wonder. Algeria will now keep the RD-33 supply chain for decades anyway...and also there's a weapons compatibility. J-10 certainly can be made to work with older Rus munitions, but for the new ones - it's unlikely.
As far as we know, chinese su-35se live in their own small supply universe. Buying a cheaper F-B for a separate supply universe doesn't make sense.

Thus, IMHO China will have a chance to bite on the next cycle (the whole thing), i.e. not J-10.

Surely an autocorrect misspell, it's impossible to get a J20, let alone so many. You meant J16 or something else?
