The J-10 has a significantly thick wing root, if you look at it from the front its very obvious. I can imagine that this should add to internal fuel capacity.
It was speculated that J10C has around 3T internal fuel, while Rafale is advertised to carry 4.7T. J10 looks bigger than rafale too.
I don't understand how you reached the conclusion that Rafale's layout is quite similar to J-20, regardless its performance. The point, though, is that the Rafale is probably superior WVR because it has something quite similar to the J-20's aerodynamic layout and the J-10 is a generation behind (roughly Gripen / Lavi) layout.
Hi with sleep eye maskFlanker stares down a J-10C with WS-10 engine.

@Deino let's play the detective game. It says in the article his first unit was operating old J-7 and started conversion to J-10 in 2014. But at end of 2017, he was transferred to some unit in STC. In the 2021 competition, he partnered with Gao Benchao (高本超) who is from another unit. This suggests Gao Benchao is from the also known as Yunling Red Eagle (云岭红鹰) or Great Red Eagle(大红鹰).
Also which unit is confirmed in video in which Yang Shuai is interviewed. See if you can spot the clue.
