Rumor has it that they will use the WS-10 variant and I also lean towards the rumor for two reasons. They won’t need to deal with the export control from Russia if they go the WS-10 route.

Agreed and also to avoid upsetting India and complicated Russian situation. So I don't think Russian would allow it fitted with Al-31 for Pakistan, and I don't think Pakistan want it either
