some J-10B rumours by a source I'm not sure about, so read anyway you would

basically says that J-10B employs plasma stealth detection, also its AESA radar contains some ECM capability. In following versions, 14th institute will use optical phased array technology, also claims laser suppression system.
The translation is a bit off. It says J-10B will use partial plasma stealth, not detection of it. The 14 is not institute, but "follow up batch of 14", which will have the optical phased array and DIRCM. The optical phased array is translated correctly, it does not mean imaging or focal plane sensors. It is passive and will supplement the active radar. The DIRCM is similar to the one on the F-35 in function.

If true, Chinese scientists either got some help with plasma stealth from the Russians or had some tricks that were previously unknown.

optical phase array? it got to be error, confusing "optical radar" with IRST.
around 2006,zhuhai airshow, report that J-10A original program med with High-C language, while "next variant" will be switched to Ada language.
the "next variant" may be J-10B.

I think the compiler of the Ada language is not reliable!

J-10A with conformal fuel tank undergoing test in wind tunnel.this confirm the russian aviation magaine, report 2 months ago, that J-10A with conformal fuel tank may in fact undergoing actual flight test.
aside from article, latest report that carrier version is undergoing test.

I wonder if this means they're going to give it a stronger turbofan?

They don't necessarily have to. They can leave the maximum takeoff gross weight unchanged. Adding conformal fuel tanks frees up hardpoints for more weapons and/or electronics pods.

I suppose those pictures are pretty conclusive that the J-10 will be getting CFT's... which is good since the J-10 definitely needs more hardpoints. I wonder if this J-10 with CFT's may be equipped with the WS-10A to compensate for it's lowered T/W ratio (a week ago I would not have suggested this, but the J-11B pictured with WS-10 has converted me).
Would CFT drastically alter a plane's flight characteristics? (i.e.: would they be able to just "strap on" and go, or would they need to upgrade the plane's FBW system, etc)

But I'm not so sure about the navalised J-10 thing... We've been hearing the J-15 will be the PLAN's naval fighter. Anyone got new information on this re emerging topic?
