What the heck are you talking about? J-10 is deployed to the elite divisions first as expected and then deployed to guard Beijing and then to Taiwan zone. That's what happened to the flankers too.

what's wrong? 1st division in North East China (辽宁), 24th division in North China (天津), 3nd division in East China (安徽), 44th division in West South China(云南), 2nd division in South China but close to west(广西), now,9th division in South China (广东)will deploy J-10, what's wong I said?

i read on a Chinese forum that if there is to be a conflict with Taiwan, J-10 will not get involved too much early in the game. because its range is too short, so placing it too close to the frontier would expose it to enemy fire before take-off. so as you can see all the frontline units expected to be deployed over Taiwan are placed around Anhui Guangdong Jiangxi and Zhejiang. none at Fujian. J-10's role early on would most likely to be protecting high value targets against possible counterattack, and later on to escort and support air-strike missions.

you are right.
I think J-10 is 3nd generation light fighter, Flanker is 3nd generation heavy fighter, they each match, with the level of combat.

一年前，她撩开神秘面纱一角，引来万千目光；一年后，她首次亮相珠海航展，引来一片惊叹；国庆60周年阅兵式上，她威武的雄姿展示泱泱中华的空中魅力；闪光灯前，她矫健的身姿，充满力量的擎天直刺，显示着傲人的中国力量。大家可能想不到，她的剑锋初砺在彩云之南、首批鹰群翱翔在彩云之南、东海之滨南天雄鹰凛凛雄威、神技射日扬威云贵高原……她有一个如雷贯耳的名字“歼十”，她的家就在彩云之南。

在中国人民解放军空军成立60周年之际，本报记者探秘空军驻滇航空兵某师，带您近距离体验雄鹰展翅的凌厉风声。

长剑在手 凤凰涅槃

11月的红土高原，天高云淡。空军驻滇航空兵某师机场上，数架歼十战机滑出机棚，跑道尽头蓄势待发，滑跑、加速、加力起飞……两架银色战鹰腾空而起，呼啸渐远。新中国成立60周年国庆首都阅兵式上，两架“歼十”战机组成了空中“加受油”梯队，15架“歼十”战斗机分成三个空中梯队，队形准确、衔接紧密、秒米不差、安全无误，圆满完成受阅任务。返回驻地后，战鹰又再次升空，担负起巡航祖国西南领空的战斗值班任务。

这支全军最早装备“歼十”战机的部队，常年守卫着红土高原上空的蔚蓝。“只要上级一声令下，我们在规定时间内就能快速飞上长空……”师长王建民自豪地说道。机场上，战鹰在阳光下闪闪发光；战斗值班室内，飞行员头戴飞行盔，身着抗荷服，腰挂伞刀、手枪，氧气面罩等各种作战装具触手可及。他们时刻准备着，为祖国利益而战，为民族尊严而战！

几年前，来自全空军十多个不同建制部队的官兵从四面八方齐集北方某机场，一场轰轰烈烈的异地改装由此展开。能飞上国产新型战机是每一个飞行员的梦想，但要与新机共舞蓝天，其中滋味也只有飞行员们才能够体会:航空理论知识、火控雷达知识、武器性能知识、战术学知识……从理论改装到模拟机训练，从单飞到基础战术课目，各种训练如同风暴般袭来。

驻地机场气候条件复杂，他们从“老天爷”手里抢出了数十个飞行场次。当战鹰冲上九霄云天，特招大学生干部王国泰在自己的日记里写下了这样一句话:“歼十战机划破长空，我们的双眼充满泪水。”

十年磨剑 志在必得

警报，尖利的战斗警报声划破了夜空，机场像是被擦落的火花引燃一般，瞬时充满火药味。

飞行员急促的脚步，夹杂着金属的铿锵，头盔在夜色中留下一道光迹。

战机轰鸣，气流激荡，战鹰拖曳着蓝色火焰直插夜空……

云贵高原唯一的航空兵师、全军最早换装歼十战机的部队，从实战标准默默地磨砺她的锋芒。

逼真模拟战场环境，设置艰险的训练条件，有意识组织大强度，大场次飞行，使新生战鹰在各种艰难困苦条件下提高遂行作战任务的能力；战术应用阶段，空战训练有针对性设置实战背景、安排动作内容，全程使用电子干扰，极力贴近实战环境。

2008年11月，“歼十”战机参加了第七届珠海国际航空博览会。两名飞行员驾机直插云霄，以最大坡度盘旋、低空倒飞通场、小角度最快速度着陆，一连串令人惊心动魄的动作，展现了我军飞行员精湛的飞行技术和良好的心理素质和新型战机良好的机动性能和操控性能，赢得了在场国内外专家、媒体和观众的阵阵掌声。

利剑出鞘 搏击长空

演兵场上，“歼十”战机与某“王牌”部队蓝红对抗悄然展开。

当日，机场上空风云突变，气象条件复杂。两支各自装备顶级战机的“王牌”部队、作战理念各异，在全程复杂电磁环境中展开激烈对抗。志在必得的“红军”，在改装不久的对手面前，几个回合便损失大半，不得不铩羽而归……

从年初到岁末，云贵高原上空，他们与同代战机部队开展强强对抗，并与地空导弹部队、雷达部队、陆军防空兵部队展开精彩纷呈的空地一体对抗演练；在西北大漠，战术小分队与不同新机部队进行了数百架次的合同战术对抗演练……一个个辉煌战绩在对抗中诞生。

“模范歼击机大队”、一等功臣孟凡升、全军优秀共产党员、空军十大杰出青年卢建军……一批批优秀的飞行员在训练中成长。

多年来，该师先后圆满完成军委、空军赋予的一系列重大任务，受到高度肯定。通过不断转变战斗力生成模式，空军驻滇航空兵某师取得了国产新型战机的多项“第一”。

J-10 got deployed to 44th because it was close to CAC. It then got deployed to 1, 2 and 3 because they are the elite divisions of PLAAF, they get the newest toys first. They put it in 24th division because of August 1st and also its proximity to Beijing. They put in the 9th division because it's next to Taiwan. Have you taken a look at where they placed the flanker regiments when they first joined service? Guess what, they go to the elite divisions first and the west last.

J-10 has longer range than any fighters in service with PLAAF outside of flankers and JH-7A. Of course it's going to be involved early. What else are you going to send in there other than flankers? Do you want J-7s to escort JH-7As? How many % of PLAAF fighters do you think can even fly in night time? Think about it.

I can not accpet your oppinion, J-10 deployed to 44th because it was close to CAC, this is not convincing, how do you explain J-10 deploy in Guangxi and Yunnan?
Flanker deployment is defferent case, you should know what condition PLAAF in early 90s.

this may be disinformation to confuse the Taiwanese military analysts.
