I thought that the debate about the J-10B radar has been settled for a long time. The J-10B uses a AESA radar its only recently that people are starting to talk about a PESA radar. Has there been new information that came to light recently ? And there is no J-10C that 201 plane is most likely the pre-production model of the improved block II.

I think that is the agreement that J10C is a improved version of J10B, basically a Block II version and more advanced

"2" probably denoting the 2nd block and the "1" being the first unit of that block

But one thing confusing me is that it's still using AL-31

It would have been awesome if J10B were all using WS-10 engines

one poster came out with a thread on cjdby to say that J-10B is using PESA radar. There was a long thread about it and most people are now convinced that's what J-10B uses and that J-10C uses AESA radar. Frankly, I don't know how credible that person is or the other people that affirmed his statement. We won't know until more info comes out.

Personally i'm rather skeptical about the claims of the J-10B using a PESA radar and also about the existence of a J-10C. But we will have to wait and see. Sooner or later there will be pieces and documentaries about the J-10B in the Chinese media and then we will know for sure what kind of radar the plane uses. But so far the Chinese military and media have been mighty quiet about the production and deployment of the J-10B.

According to a Sina news, one fighter with single AL-31F engine crashed at Pi county, Sichuan province. Pilot ejected safely.
And the news speculates that the aircraft is a J-10B, cause of crash was due to engine stall in very low altitude.

A piece of wreckage showed yellow painted part, could be a new J-10B under pre-delivery flight test when the incident happened. Some body in the factory forgot to fastern a bolt or wire?

Technically it is not a PLAAF aircraft yet because it had not been handed over by the factory.

J-10A crash 2 aircrafts
J-10B have 2 prototype aircrafts and crash 1, so its safe rate of only 50%

How does that make sense?
I'm also quite confident that there are more than two J-10B prototypes.
And it wasn't a J-10B prototype that crashed anyway

Relax, everyone can learn fast if he has sound judgement.

Yes he surely has the right to learn, and especially after such a statement to learn fast !
It's also surely not the problem to have a different opinion in certain "things" but with statements of this kind that are even more simply wrong - we all know that there are 5 Prototypes, a few (maybe 4 - 8) preserials and by now 43 serials - it's difficult not to think the reason of this post was simply some kind of "not knowing" !
