If original version flew in 98 and reached service in 03 (initial operational capability in 05??) then the new version shouldn't take any longer than that. Even more likely, it will take less, as there isn't as much testing required... so my guess would be 2011 and 2012 for IOC, as the production line will be already 'warm'...

Indeed the J10B finally got more streamlined and smooth looking, now all it needs is a more powerful domestic power plane and a killer radar. :nono:

I read on the Chinese and UK web that they are starting a drama series based on the J10A, shooting starts in a few months. So J10A is no longer consider secret anymore. I think they also did a drama based on the JH7A (Flying Leopard) a few years ago. Would be an interesting drama to watch. So J10B should be entering service soon.

correction: the asking price for J-10A was $29.3 million per plane.
anyone know how much for a used F-16A?

Chile bought 36 Dutch F-16A MLU at an US$ 7 million unit price. You must compare the J-10A with the US$ 50 million unit price for F-16E or Gripen NG at the Brazilian competition. The MiG-35 was coted at an US$ 35 million unit price at the Indian bid.
