I really wasn't expecting this additional J-10A regiment. I guess this must be from the J-10As produced earlier this year. Or maybe it's possible this regiment will get J-10AS for two seaters and J-10Bs for the rest.

it depends if seventh batch was as large as sixth and has 40 airframes produced. while even 40 airframes isnt enough for 24 leftovers for a new regiment, it should be enough for 16 or so strong single seater regiment. j10b could theoretically be added, but maybe it needs to go through tactics development phase first. another option would be that older j10b get transferred from fftc to this regiment, and new j10b initially go to fftc.

There is no confirmation what so ever of any J-10B sales to any foreign country.

Back in 2006, there was talk of J-10s being sold to Pakistan, however nothing materialized and the procurement prospect has been put off. Pakistan Air Force has given no indication on whether it will be looking to get J-10Bs, nor has China given any inclination as to J-10B foreign sales.

At present, Pakistan Air Force is totally committed to and focused on the production and further development of it's JF-17 Thunder program. PAC is prepping for Block-II serial production and that has been the highlight for Pakistan Air Force in 2013.

There was even talk of possible further procurement of F-16 C/D Block-52s, but that is no longer being considered by Pakistan Air Force. The only F-16s that they're interested in, or will be getting in the near future, are the remaining 14 Fighting Falcons from the original refurbishment contract with Lockheed Martin/U.S Government.

So, as I said, no J-10Bs nor F-16C/Ds as of now in Pakistan Air Force's near-term plans!!

too many strings attached better to spend on JF-17 project

J10B? doubt it theres no need for it in PAF not until India gets large numbers of Rafale which isnt for years yet

Don't we actually know that Lot 7 would be 40 aircraft, like Lots 4, 5 and 6? We did expect an 11th J-10A regiment, but in the Navy, with 16 J-10A and 8 J-10S (SSF 9 Division), following 12 Div 34 Regt Qihe with 24 J-10a and 4 J-10S. Perhaps the Chinese sources mixed things up, since it turned out that 9 Div got a J-11B regiment in 2013.

The suggestion that the Flight Test and Training Base gets, say, 8 J-10B and turns over a similar number of J-10A to 124 Bde Nanning seems a sensible one, allowing this unit to have the usual configuration.

As mentioned on the same thread earlier that the PAF was initially interested in J10As when they signed MOU for 36 J10As (FC20s). However, same was put on hold when India went for Rafale & then J10Bs came on the horizon which prompted PAF to change their approach towards J10Bs.

And yes J10Bs are very much on cards for PAF but IMO we don't see them in near future in PAF colors as defiantly the first preference is for PLAF & secondly PAF have breathing space of couple years till Rafale come online in India.

I have a feeling that PAF might be waiting for the upcoming J-10C (rumored to have enhanced fifth generation avionics such as AESA, conformal fuel tanks, semi-stealth configuration, twin seater, and more powerful engine) since it would not only be a markedly greater improvement than earlier variants, but it would come into service around the same time the first Rafales are about to arrive in India.

Asif.... its Very hard to pick you sometime!!

Same statement you have given for OHPs & then suddenly when US announces 3 more OHPs are become V.good option for PN.

I am sure in near future if US & our government agrees for another acquisition of F16C/Ds will be again become very good for PAF.

Right???

How many J-10B will Pakistan get in 2014?
I know of no order or agreement for the Pakistani Air Force to get any J-10Bs unless I missed something major.

A lot of talks about how they would "like," them, or how great it would be, or maybe how they might as well wait for the "J-10C." But in terms of actualy, real deals and arragementss, I do not know of any.

So I am going to forecast the following number of aircraft that Pakistan will alctually transferred to their service in 2014, and carry it out to four places:

0.0000 J-10Bs for the Pakistan Air Force in 2014.

I think that Pakistan will continue focusing on the new batch build of JF-17 aircraft.
