Here we go again ... after another SPAM-attack my 12. FD J-10AS's were gone

Anyway it seems as if not the 36. AR but the 34. AR operated them.

Deino

what type of sidearms do PLAAF pilots carry? that gun and the holster looks like it's from the 1800s.. ;)

Nice pics! Can't wait to see JF-17 Thunders participate in future China-Pakistan air-exercizes!

I don't think the PLAAF has too much interests in training with the Pakistan JF-17, rather, Mirage 3 and F-16 can provide them opportunities to get valuable experience if they have to fight against Taiwanese F-16 and Mirage 2000-5 in the future.

Very true said, but unfortunately as per the American contract the F16 C/D Block 52+ are not allowed to leave the Pakistan air space and I think PAF didnt want to send F16 MLU in case Uncle Sam gets annoyed so the next best thing is the Mirage which had been vastly upgraded

That's 533 in the picture that's a Mirage III Rose I equipped with Grifro radar from number 7 Sqaudron "The bandits" this Sqaudron is one of the best PAF Sqaudrons so looks like they did send the best they could within then scope of the excercise

Btw the way is this the first time a foreign country has done air excercise with PLAAF inside China?

I would think so, yes. Both of the previous exercises with Pakistan (Shaheen 1&2) took place in Pakistan. I don't recall any other publicly announced exercises taking place within China.

Chinese pilots think very highly of Pakistanis pilots. When Pakistan first purchased the Q-5 the Chinese observers were astounded when the Pakistanis test flyer flew the aircraft upside down at a very low altitude. They didn't know that the Q-5 was capable of the feat until then.

More nice pic's of PAF fighters in the exercise (including female PAF pilot getting in J-7)..Very interesting to see multi-generational fighters flying in formation. How do you think mirage and J-7 would fare against more modern J-10a?

My personal opinion is that it really depends on the pilot involved. Both the USAF and IDF use third gen fighters or even trainers/light attack aircraft, like the F-5 or A-4, for aggressor training. Judging from what Asif extrapolated from the picture, PAF sent the best aggressor pilots, which in the cockpit of upgraded mirages and J-7s, will be more than a match for their counterparts flying J-10s. Even within PLAAF, it isn't unheard of for legacy platforms like the J-7 to take down 4th gen fighters like the Su-27.

Not Just them Either near the End of the Cold war 1970s to the late 1980s The Russian Airforce operated it's own Aggressor program built around the Mig23 against a inexperienced pilot, It could come out better then Mig 29s.

It was about close quarters fighting and tactics to teach new pilots that not every fighter preforms the same way. Today the USAF and USN have mostly given up the third gens for there mainline fighters like particularly the F16 but they never match against the same type. F16' vs F16 is to much a fair fight. so when F16s fight they deal with Eagles.
