I think it depends very much on the advantages (and disadvantages, too) of the DSI intake over the conventional intake. Remember that, outside of the DSI, whatever they can upgrade on the J -10B, they can do the same for the J-10.

huitong is not official by any means and he is just listing things that he had read.

People build up credibility over the years. Huitong has many times proven many mystery of PLAAF and PLAN projects. Of cos, I am not trying to say Huitong is 100% correct. Human tend to make mistakes too.
But Huitong definitely do his homework properly before update anything on his website. He has his own sources and the correct person to look for to give us the lastest news of Chinese military development.

Huitong does have a lot of credibility in my opinion. However, the sources he use are the same source that the rest of us all have access to online. Anyone who follows Chinese bbs very closely can come up with a lot of the similar news that he came out with. A lot of things he states are in the line of "it is possible", "speculations are" and such. In those case, it normally comes from someone putting that speculations on Chinese bbs. I would say that J-10B is certainly used to serve to test out a lot of new subsystems that will eventually be adapted for J-20, but it is also developed to be deployed into service.

^^ Are there any video links of the J-10B (the one with DSI) where the fighter-jet is flying? I haven't seen any actual videos of J-10B/FC-20 in which the aircraft is flying. I understand that the developments are moving fast and that most of the Chinese Aviation Industry is swarmed by development of many fighters like the J-10, J-11, J-15, JF-17 and so on.

There wouldn't have been a J10b at all if the J10a weren't produced.

Then it'd be like HAL Tejas...and when you get to the J-10B, tech will move on by then as well, and what you gonna do, wait for J-10C? In that way you gonna wait forever.

instresting video, the foreigners play J-10 model game, its prove the J-10 fighter aerodynamic design is very good, of cause, the engine of the model are different, its thrust-weight ratio maybe larger than real J-10 fighter,some body said the foreign model fans had visited China and he had seen real J-10 fighter too.
do you think China will develop smaller UACV J-10 fighter?
