Just fucking unbelievable if the whole city really has fallen in one day. For context the first battle for it lasted nearly 5 years.

It'll take them far longer to reclaim the lost territory as the likes of HTS don't give up ground so easily.

And now we see why the Arab stated always underperformed in any modern war. But Iran and Hezbollah have to help Assad, he's too important

this looks similar to the fall of Mosul to ISIS. the soldiers simply didn't want to fight so they gave the city up without firing a single bullet. the SAA can regain this land and crush the HTS. so unfortunately the biggest loser from this is Palestine because now Iran & it's allies may forget about Gaza & focus on Syria again.

You know it makes me wonder how Arab armies were so feared in the middle ages and now they are considered a joke. Like what the hell happened?

You're taking on the west who have advanced weaponry. Asking Allah or others to save you won't work. Being smart and practical does.

Realistically I can't see the rebels winning if Iraqi militias and Iranian forces fight with the Syrian government and Hezbollah being free to move men to Syria. Now that the frontline is moving again, it will be easier for the Syrians to justify liberating idlib
It means the Astana agreement is dead. And Erdogan betrayed Putin. At this point the only solution is full scale ground operations into Idlib. However the other issue is how woefully unprepared the SAA/NDF. It’s been the same story since 2011. The only elite forces they have are the Tiger Forces,4th armored division and Republican Guard. Iran and Russia over reliance on diplomacy and trying to be the good guys has lead to the many crises we see. The West don’t play fair. If I’m Russia and Iran I would support the Syrian government in the counterattack and make a major push into Idlib. If Turkey threatens to send troops across the border I would tell Erdogan that those ground troops will be bombed by fighter jets and drones. Turkey can’t be trusted.
