I've noted you like to dig yourself into inescapable holes.
The problem is what Mearsheimer is stating is a claim only while the opposite what Netanyahu stated is explicit, verbatim, on video record in front of Congress. In other words, what you're implying is that Netanyahu's explicit statements in front of Congress simply did not happen, even though there is video evidence right in front of you.

Mearsheimer's assessment may be true, as he mentioned "early 2002", while Netanyahu's speech was later in Sept '02. But both Mearsheimer and Netanyahu's statements are congruent in that "if you invade Iraq [FIRST], [revolution] will occur in Iran [SECOND]". And both are negating your original claim..,

What's totally without evidence is your original claim that 'Israel was fuming in 2003 for attacking the wrong guy'. There is literal evidence right in front of you of Israel vouching for attacking Iraq FIRST (and even suggesting that attacking Iran may not be necessary).
My statement that Iran was Israel’s preferred target, not Iraq stands. That I misremembered by a year what was said in a video I watched 5 years ago doesn’t change anything. I will take Mearsheimer’s word over a stranger who refuses to share his credentials and is clueless about how a ballistic missile‘s precision is characterized. And who also doesn’t understand the difference between accuracy and precision, but enjoys throwing around fancy terms in the vain attempt of creating a false impression of authority on a subject.

Are you forgetting the fact that Iraq sent troops as part of the Arab coalition into Israel in the Yom Kippur War? That Saddam was a major supporter of the Palestinian PLO and Fatah? That Israel bombed Iraq's Osirak nuclear reactor to prevent Iraq from being the first Arab country in the Middle East to have nukes? Or that Iraq bombed Israel with Scud missiles during the Gulf War?

There was no real love by the Israelis for Iraq or Saddam.

It appears you are a bit senile too. Not only do you not remember what happened 5 years ago, but you also don't remember what happened just yesterday because the discussion you're referencing here occurred between you and @iewgnem , not between you and me. Lolololol

And no, your statement doesn't stand. Your own reference negated you. Mearsheimer explicitly stated the plan was to invade Iraq first and then Iran which might be in revolt by then. Netanyahu said the exact same thing in front of Congress. You aren't countering me - you are countering Netanyahu (and Mearsheimer, by misquoting him), and when it comes to Israeli policy/intentions then Netanyahu is more credible than both Mearsheimer and whatever delusion you're experiencing.

Degree of influence like how US has over Israel's. But not complete control/ownership.
Are you being sarcastic or?
You can't compare the level of control/influence/support or involvement the US has over Israel to the one China has over North Korea.
To be honest, China didn't and still doesn't want North Korea to be a nuclear power, but the Kim regime went ahead with it without giving a fuck as usual. The Kim dynasty doesn't care about anybody and they do what they want. In fact China tacitly supported/didn't not opposed sanctions against North Korea at UN to show their displeasure with the regime several times before but it still hasnt changed anything. At this stage, I'm afraid China has no influence over North Korea. I will say North Korea has a better relationship/closeness with Russia today than even with China. And there's a good reason for that, the Kim dynasty is a burden today to China not an asset unfortunately. They have disregarded all CCPs advice on opening up and following the Chinese model for development and normalisation of ties like China did. The regime/dynasty is a failure (even more so when you look at their peer/brother in South Korea). The Kim dynasty today knows they can only survive by making North Koreans citizens live in a giant open prison sealed off from the world. Else they are scared that if they open up they will collapse, but its just a matter of time this will happen at some point this familly won't stay in power forever.

Yes, I am aware. However, in 2003 Iraq was a shadow of itself. During the Gulf War the US literally bombed the country back to stone age. Within 48 hours 97% of Iraqi power generation was destroyed. Unlike in 2003, when the US intended to occupy Iraq, in 1991 they targeted power plants with high yield explosives to permanently disable them. They also destroyed Iraq’s refineries so that Iraq would become wholly dependent on fuel imports and would be forced to trade oil for bare necessities. The UN described the situation it found on the ground as “near apocalyptic”. A once prosperous country was degraded into a preindustrial society.

Iraq was not a significant threat to Israel in 2003. Iran was and remains.
