Thousands wounded and 8 killed so far

Who the hell uses pagers in 2024? I'm nostalgic for times gone by but come on.
Hezbollah uses older communications devices so that Israel cannot breach them, or at least to make it harder for Israel to breach them and to make internal communications more secure. It doesn't seem to have worked out very well.

Reports that the pagers that exploded were Taiwanese-made Gold Rugged Apollo AR-924s and not the Motorola model.

Edit:
Over two weeks ago, on August 29, employees at the American University Medical Center in Beirut received this email, saying that their 'old pagers' would be replaced.

The issue was that they were intercepted somewhere along the way to their destination and modified.

I get lithium batteries are no joke when they go off when they overheat but surveillance video of pagers going off you can see majority are checking as if they are getting a message and not acting as if the pager is overheating.

easiest way was probably from the start (factory)..

in any case, big win for Mossad and bad news for Hezbollah because with Israel using clandestine ways to inflict such widespread damage, it means that it is ready to go to war with Hezzbolah

It’s not “ready”. It may think it is, but this will go worse than 2008, especially with the dead from gaza, loss of equipment, and the fact that their economy is in ruins.

Snowden on the X platform says that it is possible that the breach/hack occurred during manufacturing, which means that it is possible that the Israelis recruited someone at the main factory (not in Lebanon but in Taiwan) and made a defect in the devices, or they bought technical parts and made a defect in them and waited for the right moment.
