Besides deterrence, has U.S. presented Iran with any ”carrots” to help de-escalate the situation?
It looks like the West is turning a blind eye to Iran buying weapons from Russia and I don't see any US efforts right now to attack Iranian oil exports. Overall, it looks like a good trade for Iran.

This assassination is a bit similar to the assassination of a Chechen resistance leader in Berlin by the FSB. You don't start a war over that. Right now, Iran is winning the narrative and a retaliatory attack would just weaken the new president's agenda of seeking an accord with the west. It's a sad fact that only large, nuclear armed states can have full sovereignty, just China, the US and Russia. So hopefully they'll have some angry Friday prayers and then nothing happens in the open.

US doesn't possess the ability to stop and check every single ship outgoing/incoming from and to Iran. Just one of the ports at Bandar Abbas, for example, handles 6,000,000 TEU of cargo annually. How will you check just that alone?

Weapons can be moved through other nations as well. How else would the totally-blockaded Palestinian resistance groups get Chinese weapons?
Hi,
thanks for your reply, but they often and on stop and search whether coming out of Iran

It appears that the IDF has reached its combat capacity limit.
Hi
by this can we assume IDF will slow down, or do specific targets
or USA will jump in with their guns, don’t take me wrong I’m not
contradicting you but these kind of message are for people sitting
in USA upper echelons to speed and the inflow of arms and ammunition
including monetary one too
thank you

US, Qatar and Egypt say mediators will work to finalise Gaza ceasefire deal

The United States, Qatar and Egypt have issued a joint statement saying the mediators have put forward a “bridging proposal” that would allow the “swift” implementation of a deal that would end the war in Gaza and see the release of Israeli captives.

The three countries said on Friday that ceasefire negotiations in Doha were “serious and constructive”.

The current round of talks started on Thursday amid growing fears of a regional war after Israel killed a top Hezbollah commander in Beirut and Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran.

Friday’s statement echoed previous remarks by the mediators rejecting any delays in implementing an agreement to reach a ceasefire and release the captives.

“The path is now set for that outcome, saving lives, bringing relief to the people of Gaza, and de-escalation of regional tensions,” the three countries said on Friday.

The announcement did not provide details about the latest proposal, but it said it builds on a deal presented by US President Joe Biden in May.

The US-backed plan would see a multiphased effort to end the war, starting with a six-week pause in fighting that would enable the release of some Israeli captives held in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

In the second phase, there would be a permanent end to the fighting and the release of all remaining Israeli captives. The final part of the agreement would include the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the Israeli war.

“Working teams will continue technical work over the coming days on the details of implementation, including arrangements to implement the agreements, extensive humanitarian provisions, as well as specifics relating to hostages and detainees,” the mediators’ joint statement said.

Hamas has said it would only agree to a deal that would lead to a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and a “serious” prisoner exchange.

For its part, Israel has not articulated a clear vision for ending the war. While some Israeli officials have said they back the proposed ceasefire, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stressed that the war will go on until his country achieves “total victory”.

White House spokesperson John Kirby said on Wednesday that the talks in Doha had a “promising” start. “This is vital work. The remaining obstacles can be overcome, and we must bring this process to a close,” he told reporters.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said on Wednesday that the mediators “are resolute in their commitment to move forward in their endeavors to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip”.

No ‘positive signals’ yet from ceasefire talks: Hamas spokesman

Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan has spoken with Al Jazeera about the status of ongoing ceasefire talks in Doha.
He said that Hamas, which is not directly participating in the talks, does not yet have a clear picture of where the negotiations stand, but that its officials have no reason to believe Israel is sending any positive signals.

“Mediators are still talking about bridging the gaps, but it is clear that the Israeli side is adding more conditions, talking about new issues,” said Hamdan. “I believe they are trying to undermine the process.”

Specifically, Hamdan pushed back on the prospect of Israel maintaining security control over Gaza’s Philadelphi Corridor, saying Hamas continued to demand a “complete withdrawal” from the Strip, which it had previously received assurances from mediators of.

If Israel relays any “positive signals”, Hamas would be willing to participate in the talks, but that has not happened yet, said Hamdan.

A ceasefire deal could soon be reached except Hamas has no say and is left out of the negotiations. Meanwhile, Israel is involved and tacks on whatever terms they want. Basically, it is Ukraine Peace Deal 2.0.

US is feeling so pressured they will really agree to Hamas' terms? Imho this is a red herring, if US wants one thing, China needs to throw its weight into the opposite. Talks are sign of weakness that US would not want a regional war, so it is a regional war that needs to be promoted.

Except China and 140 other countries have all been calling for a ceasefire. China's goal is regional peace/stability. What you are saying is actually what Russia wants.

What China and 140 countries want is Israel penalized for it's crimes. What Israel and it's allies want is a ceasefire after destruction of Gaza without any penalty for Israel.
