The most important updates and details related to the military operation in Shuja’iya:

  • This morning, a moderate Israeli attack began (which may turn into a comprehensive attack) on the Shujaiya area
  • The attack began after reports led to an Israeli perception of completing the restructuring of the Palestinian forces, security-wise (especially security-wise) and militarily, on the outskirts of the Shujaiya area.
  • The Israeli belief that there are prisoners in the Shujaiya area has not changed yet, which makes the severity of the attack moderate.
  • Several artillery shells were fired at the eastern outskirts of the Shujaiya area to the center (Al-Tuwansi Cemetery). Warplanes also participated in the operation and launched several raids on the same areas. According to reports, drones (quadcaptors) also began firing live bullets at civilians on foot on Baghdad Street.
  • Israeli forces are trying to achieve a ground penetration from positions adjacent to the border fence. It appears from the testimonies that the number of vehicles used is moderate, and this may therefore lead to a quick (unencumbered) ground penetration.
  • It is expected that the attacking forces will attempt to carry out a ground infiltration towards the New Neighborhoods area in Turkmen and Al-Tuffah.
  • The attacking forces are currently trying to advance through the areas adjacent to the Korba Junction to the end of Al-Nazar Street.
  • For its part, the defending forces began to respond in a limited manner (in accordance with the principle of economy of firepower) and sporadically for two reasons, the first of which is the multiple axes of the incursion, and the second is that the Palestinian forces are still in the first stages of field reading of the movement of the attacking forces. It is expected that the battles will intensify in the coming hours.
  • At the beginning of the current war, the Israeli forces, through the 36th Division and the Golani Brigade specifically, worked to dismantle the Palestinian defensive capabilities. The mission failed and led to the killing of prominent leaders in the elite brigades within the Golani Brigade (the compound school ambush).
  • Joint special units, with fire cover from the Golani Brigade, also attempted to liberate an Israeli prisoner in Shuja'iya, but also failed. The operation led to the death of the prisoner and the killing and wounding of a number of unit members.
  • The division was withdrawn. As a precautionary measure and an alternative, the Israeli army resorted to engineering forces to blow up large sectors of the Shujaiya neighborhood, hoping and betting that this would deprive the Palestinian factions of infrastructure or hinder their movement.
  • On the civilian level: A popular market (the stall market) was targeted with the aim of preventing the gathering of civilians. Empty and inhabited civilian homes were also targeted unjustifiably (they were not the source of any fire) for a strategic factor, which is to push civilians towards displacement west of Salah al-Din Street. No. Civil Defense forces, ambulances, and Red Cross and Red Crescent crews are still unable to carry out field interventions in eastern Shujaiya, relying only on meeting citizens who transport the wounded on foot or via animals, bicycles, and civilian private cars to the west of Salah al-Din Street.
